On Tuesday I reported about the news that A Martedì ho riferito circa la notizia che Technokit was to enter the 1/8th scale buggy market. è stato per entrare nel 1/8th scala buggy mercato. At the time I noted that its a very flooded market and it would be bigger news if a manufacturer stated that they werent going to enter this class. Well i did a little research to follow up on that comment and was amazed to have come up with a list totalling 29 31 manufacturers (that i know of) that currently have, or are close to releasing, a 1/8th scale gas powered buggy. Well from the main manufacturers you have Academy, Corally, Motonica, Schumacher, Serpent, Shepherd, Tamiya and Yokomo who have yet to join this class but these companies have very niche markets and are small to medium sized. Well the list below shows the current lineup of manufacturers and brands currently with a car which totals 27 and with the addition of Team Associated, who are currently testing their own car, that makes 28. So as an answer to the question that i posed in the headline of this report ‘Is the 1/8th Gas Buggy market flooded?’ my answer is a resounding yes, but maybe this segment will continue to grow and can accomodate all these buggies, who knows? Although it looks dramaticly the real story is there are less numbers manufacturers as described in your article that however in editorial point of view is written very nicely. Hong Nor makes the X1CR as manufacturer under its own name and is distibuted in USA as Jammin/OFNA. Hong Né fa la X1CR come produttore con il proprio nome ed è distibuted in Stati Uniti d'America come Jammin / OFNA.
For those concernend OFNA is nothing more then a distributor who labels cars to their own brand name. Per coloro concernend OFNA è nulla di più di un distributore che le etichette auto a marchio proprio nome.
Hong Nor is a so called OEM manufacturer. Hong Né è un cosiddetto produttore OEM.
Same can be said for the Laro Diablo 5. Stesso si può dire per il Laro Diablo 5. If I am not mistaken this car is made in far east. Se non vado errato questa vettura è realizzata in Estremo Oriente. Is sold in Italy as Laro Diablo 5 and in the USA as TEAM VERTEX. È venduto in Italia come Laro Diablo 5 e negli Stati Uniti come TEAM vertice. If I am not mistaken the orginal manufactuer is Himoto. Se non sbaglio il fabbricante originale è Himoto.
Same for the Nanda car. Lo stesso vale per i Nanda auto.
In England as Schumacher and USA as Power Racing. In Inghilterra come Schumacher e Stati Uniti d'America come Power Racing.
Some Large ONROAD manufacturers are alredy having a good market in their own disipline they will not take the jump. ONROAD alcuni grandi produttori sono già avendo un buon mercato nel loro disipline che non prenderà il salto.
Remember that only the backyard bashers and rtr market is important for a manufacturer if they have done their home work correctly. Ricordo che solo il cortile e le Furie RTR mercato è importante per un costruttore se hanno fatto il loro lavoro a domicilio correttamente.

I remember many years ago……GAS cars cost a bomb to start compared with EP……..now it is cheaper to run compared with EP or Gas on road….. Mi ricordo di tanti anni fa…… GAS automobili costo una bomba per iniziare rispetto al PE…… .. ora è più economico rispetto ad eseguire PE o di gas in strada… ..
Why it is winning according to my opinion….it jumps, crash, durable, sounds wicked, cheap to maintain, runs under all kind of conditions….rain or shine….plus the advantage of fuel and go. In Denmark where i drive 1/8 off-road, it is almost impossible to locate a spot where you can create a on-road track, but it is much more easy to locate a spot for a off-road track (and cheaper). Good point Paco, i was aware of a lot of branded OEM cars but its difficult to know which is which but of course despite the cars being similar or even just the same its still yet another choice for the customer. Sangkei, i think you hit the nail on the head with regards the popularity of the class, it is great fun and you can go anywhere with them. Anders, this is true as you point out, its a very good thing in starting up clubs because of their go anywhere characteristics and so the barrier to entry for a club to start up is much smaller than that of gas on road for example. You go to a modelshop and buy as new bie what they adivse or what the you thinks is a freeking, bad ass car. Si accede ad una modelshop e acquistare le nuove BIE ciò che adivse o quello che si pensa le è un freeking, cattiva ass auto.
Brand addiction or quality is not importatn for that kind of customer as they have no knowledge yet what is going on. Marca dipendenza o la qualità non è importatn per questo tipo di clienti che non hanno alcuna conoscenza ancora ciò che sta accadendo.
This is what I mean what is important for a manufacturer for producing RTR’s as much as possible and becoming more important as the market grows due to lower prices. I say what’s the point??? Dico ciò che è il punto? How many of these companies are qualified or have qualified staff to design and build a better buggy than say a mugen or xray? What I dont understand is why so many of these new companies just copy a current car without doing anything new or original. What is needed for true innovation is rule changes, dont know what but it would stir it up in the design dept. Kind of like in F1, in the first year of a major rule change the car manufactuers have to adapt and the cars appear different, but as the rule is in place longer the cars start to look the same. it don’t matter if there are 1000 different buggy out there. essa non importa se ci sono diversi errori, anche minimi, 1000 là fuori. the big brand still dominate as they are well know and have better team driver. il grande marca continuano a dominare in cui sono ben conoscono e hanno una migliore squadra del driver. leave other smaller brand in the state of no support by hobby shop. congedo di altri più piccoli marchio nello stato di non sostenere negozio di hobby. hence they will die out soon or later and forcing the consumer to purchase the top brand. di conseguenza non morirà fuori presto o tardi e costringere il consumatore ad acquistare il top di marca. the richer get rich, poor get poorer il più ricco arricchirsi, ottenere poveri più poveri

all i can say is god help taiwan and europe if this happens .and from what i have been reading it seems companies like himoto racing ,cobra and nanda are nearly there with there western influence.
