Edit RC Optional Imperial bearings

Edit RC have released a number of new imperial sized high quality bearings to keep your vehicles running free and efficient at all times. Available with both ceramic or standard steel balls, the ceramics versions are ABEC 5 (ISO Class 5) rated, meaning that these bearings are of the highest precision useful for land based R/C models applications, while the ceramic balls extend life and increase resistance to heat. They may have a tighter tolerances for fit than the non ceramic ABEC 3 bearings, but not too tight so as to reduce bearing rpm. The new sizes available include 1/8″ x 5/16″ x 9/64″ Flanged Ball Bearing (2pcs) and 1/4″ x 3/8″ x 1/8″ Ball Bearing (2pcs) with both types available with standard and ceramic balls.

Serpent Rear wing Inserts

Serpent has released this pair of rear wing mount inserts for use with the 1/10th scale Protoform Stratus. Suitable for both the 190mm and 200mm body shells, the lightweight clear plexiglass inserts fit neatly into the wing mount towers and because they are threaded they replace the nuts that come as standard with the body. Once mounted they provide protection from the mounting screw being pulled through the body in the event of a crash. This not only prevents retirements due to the wing coming off but also saves you money, as the wing mounts are no longer destroyed.

These 2/3A cells offer low resistance and will maintain their high voltage under load, allowing them to easily provide power to high-powered servos without a performance decrease. The 1400mAh capacity is one of the highest capacities currently on the market, helping to ensure long life for long races while the pack features high-grade wiring and a pre-wired standard connector for connection to the receiver.

Mark Green wins Rd10 of UK 1/8th Nats

The 10th and penultimate round of the British 1/8th scale Nationals were held at the weekend at the fast Halifax track in the North of England. Qualifying saw Serpent driver, and round 9 winner, Mark Green claim a close TQ ahead of team mate Tim Wood only 1 second behind, with another Serpent racer Richard Hicklin in 3rd. The start of the final saw Green lead away with Wood following very close behind until a broken piston ended his chances and allowed Hicklin up into 2nd position where he stayed for the rest of the race. Jason Frost moved into a podium position which he held for 20 minutes until a blown plug dropped down the order. Several big collisions mid pack involving Andy North and James Connolly meant that Mugen racer Andy Hastings came home third to collect his best result for over a year behind Hicklin in 2nd and Mark Green in 1st. This result meant that Mark Green claimed the 2007 National title ahead of Andy North in 2nd with 3rd position still up for grabs in the 11th and final round in Brooklands.
Thanks to Andy North for the report and photo.
