After much speculation about the future of top Dutch International electric racer Jilles Groskamp, we can confirm to you that he has signed to Tamiya. Nach vielen Spekulationen über die Zukunft des niederländischen Top-Elektro-Racer International Jilles Groskamp, können wir bestätigen Ihnen, dass er unterzeichnet hat, zu Tamiya. Jilles, who has raced for Xray for the past 6 years, leaves behind a succesful term at the Slovakian manufacturer that has seen him win many major races as well as make the final for multiple European and World Championships. Jilles - No problem! Jilles - Kein Problem!
Red RC - So after a long term at Xray you have decided to make the move to Tamiya, can you tell us the reasons behind the change. Red RC - also nach einem langfristig zu XRay Sie sich entschieden haben, wird der Wechsel zu Tamiya, können Sie uns sagen, die Gründe für den Wandel.
Jilles - After more then six years with Xray I wasn’t motivated anymore. Jilles - Nach mehr als sechs Jahren mit XRay Ich war nicht mehr motiviert. Red RC - What was the main deciding factor in you choosing Tamiya? Red RC - Was war der wichtigste Faktor bei der Entscheidung, Sie wählen Tamiya?
Jilles - Tamiya has been my favourite team for many years already. Jilles - Tamiya wurde mein Lieblings-Team seit vielen Jahren schon. The TRF team always has something special and there is always a nice atmosphere around it. Die TRF-Team hat immer etwas Besonderes, und es ist immer eine nette Atmosphäre drumherum. Also on big races the performance is always there and with the 416 it will be even better! Auch in großen Rennen der Leistung ist immer da und mit dem 416 wird es noch besser!
Red RC - You join a very strong team in Europe already with Rheinard, Wilck and Honigl, do you see this situation as any different to that at Xray? Red RC - Sie sich ein sehr starkes Team in Europa bereits mit Rheinard, Wilck und Honigl, sehen Sie in dieser Situation anders zu, dass in XRay?
Jilles - Yes for sure. Jilles - Ja sicher. Xray has been a big team over the last couple of years which is sometimes a disadvantage. XRay wurde ein großes Team in den letzten paar Jahren ist das manchmal ein Nachteil. Set-up share was always an issue and many times a problem. Set-up-Aktie war schon immer ein Problem, und oft ein Problem. Now with Marc, Viktor, Hupo and me we are a small team with a lot of race experience. Jetzt mit Marc, Viktor, Hupo und ich wir sind ein kleines Team mit viel Erfahrung Rennen. We don’t have anything to hide and we can share all info very closely. Wir haben nichts zu verbergen, und wir teilen können alle Infos sehr eng.
Red RC - Have you driven the new car yet and if so what are your initial impressions of it? Red RC - Haben Sie getrieben das neue Auto noch und wenn ja, was sind Ihre ersten Eindrücke davon?
Jilles - I have been testing the car the last couple of weeks and my impression is really good. Jilles - Ich habe testet das Auto der letzten paar Wochen, und mein Eindruck ist wirklich gut. I started of with a prototype 416 which was slightly different than the kit version. Ich fing an mit einem Prototyp der 416 war etwas anders als die Kit-Version. The kit version is just amazing. Das Kit Version ist einfach erstaunlich. The balance is perfect and the car is really easy to drive and has really good steering. Der Restbetrag ist perfekt und das Auto ist wirklich einfach zu fahren und hat wirklich gute Steuerung. Also the quality of all parts is really outstanding. Red RC - With the Tamiya perceived as a good car on rubber tires and the Xray a good car on foams, will we see you make the move to more rubber racing than foam, or is your place on the team to help develop the car on foams? Red RC - Mit dem Tamiya als ein gutes Auto auf Gummireifen und XRay ein gutes Auto auf Schäume, werden wir sehen können, wird der Wechsel zu mehr Gummi-Rennen als Schaum, oder ist Ihr Platz in der Mannschaft zu helfen, entwickeln das Auto auf Schäume?
Jilles - Tamiya has scheduled a lot of races mostly on rubber tyres as most important races are on rubber tyre including the Worlds. Jilles - Tamiya geplant hat viele Rennen vor allem in Gummi-Reifen, da die meisten wichtigen Rennen sind in Gummi-Reifen einschließlich der Welten. I will participate at the Snowbirds with my Tamiya and some foam tests are already made which were really impressive. Red RC - Following our conversation in Argentina back in October it seems that 2008 will be all change for you having moved away from Xray, Trinity and Hudy. You have already announced that you will use SMC cells, but are there any further deals inked for 2008? Jilles - SMC is my main sponsor for batteries. Jilles - SMC ist mein Hauptsponsor für Batterien. Motors is not decided yet but soon it will be! Motors ist noch nicht entschieden, aber bald wird es! Leaving Xray was not only for the electric but also for the nitro class. Ende des XRay war nicht nur für die elektrische, sondern auch für die Nitro-Klasse. Sirio will be my main sponsor for nitro in which I will use a Kyosho chassis. Sirio wird mein Hauptsponsor für Nitro, in denen ich mit einem Kyosho-Chassis.
