The weapon of choice? Pro-Line Revolver 1/8 Off-Road Tyres

In preparation for the 2008 World Championship Pro-Line was looking for a new tread as it became apparent that the Carolina red clay asked for a very special tyre that offers a fine pin design with a balance of good traction and site bite characteristics. The result is a combination of the successful Pro-Line Hole Shot and Crimefighter. When looking at our comparison pic you will notice that the Revolver called tyre offers a slightly larger block design with less pins than the Hole Shot but also the arrow shaped inner blocks taken from the Crimefighter. A new addition are the ‘space ship’ shaped outer blocks that are meant to offer good side bite. When you look closer you also notice the deeper T-shaped lug rows that add strength to the whole tread without making the whole design to heavy.

The Revolver was developed for the use with the new Pro-Line V2 wheels that are around 1.3mm wider and 3mm taller than the ‘usual’ 1/8 wheels. The result is a tyre with a stiffer sidewall for less flex while cornering and thus even more precision. If you need a tyre with more self-damping characteristics you are also free to use standard type wheels for a softer sidewall and a rounder contact patch.

As wide as a tyre can be
2008 was the year of the ‘wide’ tyres as some of you may have noticed. Nearly every buggy tyre manufacturer came up with a wider version of their traditional offerings which (in theory) should help tame the new even more powerful nitro engines. Most of the new wider tyres appeared toward the end of the season so track time with the new rubber was limited and it is yet to be proved if the new tyres are a breakthrough or not. We look forward to use the wide tyres here in Northern Europe as the snow melts and the temperature rises to a more RC-Car friendly range!
