Vorsprung durch Technik – Durango DEX410
Performance Tips
Slipper – When building the slipper clutch make sure you press on the single pressure plate the right way. The plate has an inner hex that has to match with the hex on the slipper shaft, otherwise you cannot tight the slipper correctly.
Differentials – As mentioned before the DEX410 has geared differentials. Building them is easy but some steps need attention. When putting the outdrives into the differential case please do not forget to grease the contact points between outdrive and case. Also we would suggest to put a bit of Associated Green Slime on the X-Ring seal. The grease ensures the seals do not swell because of the silicone oil and also seals the ring to reduce leaking oil to a minimum. When setting up the differentials the supplied 2,000wt oil is a good starting point but according to the Team Durango Team drivers harder 20,000wt oil in the front and 10,000wt oil in the rear diff makes the car even more responsive.
Universals – When building the universals make sure you line up the flat spot on the joint pins with the grub screw. Otherwise you might loose them during operation.
Universals 2.0 – Sliding the rubber boots over the universals is easier when the rubber parts are stretched with tweezers.
Universals 3.0 – We advise to put a bit of shrink wrap over the joint on the front and rear universals that go into the gearboxes. This will prevent the pin from falling out (and cutting into you servo or batteries!) in case the grub screw comes loose.
Universals 4.0 – Use the supplied thread lock on ALL screws that go into metal parts!
Wheel axle pins – Unfortunately the wheel axle pin that acts as a drive pin is too short and works its way into the otherwise very good Team Durango dish rims. We would advise to use the NT0081 drive pins from Nortech Racing or the ones Schumacher Racing supplies for their CAT SX buggy.
Jumper wire – Contrary to our other studio pics of the car, the jumper wire for the LiPo saddle pack should be soldered as seen above. Otherwise the wire could get in touch with the body, rubbing away your gorgeous paint job!
Option parts – The DEX410 comes with additional 3-hole shock pistons, 1 degrees rear hubs and 1.3 mm & 1.5 mm sway bars as well as a set of rear wishbones mounts. Michael Vollmer of Team Durango also supplied us with the optional Team Durango spring set. This set comes for front (TD230001) and rear shocks (TD230002) and contains 8 different pairs of springs.
