John Ermen wins Dutch Nationals Rd3

Last weekend the 3rd round of the Dutch nationals was held on the Raco track in Utrecht. Last year it was the 1st time after almost 20 years to race on this track again and Ilia v. Gastel set the first lap record of 13.937 sec. This time it was clear the track was a lot faster and so new lap records could be expected.

In the NK class it was again Ilia v. Gastel who was the man to beat folowed by John Ermen, Steven Cuypers and RickV. Robin d’Hondt as current leader of the NK class had the 5th time and was the fastest in the semi finals and started the final from 5th place. After the start there were some collisions taking out Robin. RickV took over the lead folowed by Ilia and John but finally John had the best strategy and was leading the last part of the race and won the race. During this final the Top 3 were setting new lap records, the overall fastest is set by John Ermen with 13.456 sec.

In the Nomac class it was Belgian driver Tom Smolderen who took the pole folowed by Glen v. Oversteeg, Stanley Bauer and Wesley v. Silfhout. In the final Tom was leading comfortably but all of a sudden his car was no longer stable caused by a missing shaft meaning he had to drive with only 3wd. Glen who was driving a strong and stable race, took over the lead and won the race.
