Serpent 733 DLS system
As seen in our World Championship coverage, Serpent have released the full details on their new DLS system for the 733. The Direct Link system is activated during cornering mainly, whereby the outer suspension forces are transferred partially to the inner wheel too, with a pivot-link system. The results is more rubber on the track, more traction and more even tyre wear, resulting in significantly faster and easier cornering and possibly better laptimes. Set to be made available in 1 month.

How is this different from a sway bar?

it looks like it changes the camber through out the corner….as well as change the weight placement on the a-arm…..

this is actually a way smarter solution than a stan ard rollbar, as it allows the suspension to move completely independent over bumps and medial forces..

Wouldn’t a lateral mono-shock do the same thing?

This is not the same effect as a sway bar. From how I see it, the function of this DLS is effectively a Watts linkage. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watt%27s_linkage for reference.

Looks like it adds significantly to the sprung weight and unsprung weight.
