JBRL Electric Rd3 report

TLR’s Frank Root, Aaron Lane, Cody Turner, Matt Schreffler, Ryan Dunford, Casper Nielsen and Keith Whisler attended the 3rd Round of the 2011 Jimmy Babcock Racing League (JBRL) hosted by Palm Desert R/C Raceway this past weekend. The track layout was fast and fun with really high grip levels setting up for an awesome weekend of racing. TLR took home several TQs, and A-Main wins.

Pro2 – Frank Root was on point in qualifying.  After setting the 2nd quick time in round 1, Frank came back in round 2 on a slower track to take the TQ.  Ryan Dunford would line up 4th, Casper 5th and Cody Turner 7th.  In the main, some early race tangles put Frank back in the field, but he was able to charge up and take a strong 2nd place finish.  Turner joined Root on the podium in 3rd, with Dunford rounding out the top 5.  The TQ and second place finish puts Frank in a dead tie for the points lead in the Pro2 Class.

Pro4 – This class was hotly contested this week with some very fast drivers showing up.  Ryan Dunford was the highest qualifying SCTE in 2nd, with Aaron Lane and Casper behind him.  When the tone went off, the field started off clean and about 2/3rds of the way through the first lap, Ryan Dunford made a spectacular sky pass, jumping over the leader to take the lead and never looked back.  Aaron battled for 2nd for a while as Casper snuck up on and passed him as he bobbled.  The two would battle for 2nd and 3rd for a few laps but Casper edged him out in the end and Aaron finished in 3rd.
