Ty Tessmann wins Nitro Stampede II Race
Ty Tessmann got in touch to tell us about his recent success at the Nitro Stampede II Race in Calgary/AB. With some of the best drivers in Canada in attendance along with Richard Saxton from AE, he was able to take the TQ and win in all three classes including 1/8 scale Buggy and Truggy. In the Buggy class he left Team Associated’s Richard Saxton and Peter Tozer (Associated) behind and also managed to stay ahead of the pack in the Truggy class by beating Peter Tozer (Associated) and Dave Elia (TLR).

Knapp & Goncalves win 2011 ROAR Asphalt nationals
The 2011 ROAR Asphalt Nationals was held at one of the finest asphalt tracks in the US, Jackson RC in Jackson, NJ. In 12th scale, it was Andrew Knapp’s first time ever on asphalt with a 12th scale. With a little help from teammate and fellow podium finisher, Joel Johnson, Andrew figured it out in a hurry as he won the first three rounds of qualifying, securing himself the TQ spot. Andrew consistently set the fastest lap in every round of qualifying as well. In the triple A mains, Andrew took the wins in A1 and A2, and even lapped the entire field in A2. Mike Haynes places second over all with Joel Johnson completing the podium and Billy Spence finishing fourth.

F.V.S.S. Futura 2012 tyre additive
Pirani RC in cooperation with F.V.S.S. announce a new odourless tyre additive called Futura 2012. Suitable for both rubber and foam tyres as well as asphalt and carpet tracks, the traction compound already showed its performance during the 2nd round of the Italian 1/8 scale on-road championships. The additive is best applied three hours before the run and comes in handy airtight cans with application brush.

200mm South German Championship Rd6
The 6th Rd of the South German Championship was held the track of Rötz. In qualifying Patrick Nähr took the pole-position for the 30-minute finale with his Novarossi-powered Shepherd Velox V10 “eleven”, followed by Serpent driver Toni Gruber on second place and Shepherd teammate Torsten Müller securing himself the third position. Also in the main final Nähr was in a good mood and crossed the finishing line four laps ahead of his toughest rival Toni Gruber followed by Torsten Müller on third place rounding out the good result for Shepherd.

Bittydesign MBX6 Force body shell
Bittydesign distributor Ansmann Racing release first information on the Force body shell for the Mugen MBX6. Featuring a cab forward design the body was used by 2011 European Champion Robert Battle at the recent 1/8 scale off-road European championships in Sand/Germany. The body gives the buggy more steering due to its cab design, provides better airflow around the engine, is made from 1.0mm Polycarbonate and available soon.

Hobbywing SCT Pro controller
Hobbywing release a new speed controller for 1/10 scale Short Course trucks and 1/8 scale buggies. The speedo features dimensions of 53.5x36x36mm, is usable with 6 to 12 NiMH and 2 to 4S LiPo cells and has a 760A burst rating. The constant current allows for motors up to 6000kv with 2S LiPo batteries and up to 4000kv with 4S packs. The on-board BEC delivers 6V/3A, the controller features several software programmes and is being programmed using the fans 3-pin connector.

Mikael Johansson sweeps Swedish Cup Rd3
The third round of the Swedish Cup for 1/10 scale electric off-road buggies took place at the Green Hill Astro turf track in Stockholm. Featuring a challenging layout and renown for high grip in dry and a slippery surface in wet conditions the circuit was the perfect place for loads of racing action. The 2WD class was run on Saturday and Team Kyosho driver Mikael Johansson was able to TQ every qualifying rounds. Second on the grid for was A-finals was Johannes Edrén (Kyosho RB5 Mid special) followed by Otto Ausfelt (TLR 22), Friedrik Peters (Kyosho RB5) and Niclas Månsson (Associated B4). In the A-finals Mikael continued to dominate as he won both the first and second final. Besides Mikael the other top drivers was the same as in qualifying. See below a video of the first 2WD A-final.
