A better shock absorber from T-Shox
Former factory driver Andreas Myrberg from Sweden has gotten in touch to tell us about his new product & distribution venture called AME. Under that company T-Shox is a new brand which focuses on shocks and accessories for shocks, with their first product aiming to reinvent the traditional shock absorber. The first release will be for the 1/10 touring class and the prototypes will make their race debut at this weekend’s ETS season opener in Germany with both Andreas and test driver Freddy Südhoff running the new units. A unique design in that the shock shaft goes through the top and bottom of the shock, this configuration eliminates the need for a volume compensation bladder and ensures that the shaft is perfectly aligned in the shock body at all times, reducing wear and friction. The benefits, which early testing has confirmed, are more grip and steering yet giving the car a super smooth feel. You can view more photos and details on the company website here.

It’s a nice re-born of the Serpent Quattro schock wich had the same system in 1983 or 1984.

Without bladders, there are no rebound and no sucking adjustments, there could be delay in weight shifting, could turn in better but difficult to control exiting corners (shocks get back to reide height with delay). I tried many years ago by drilling a small hole on the top of the shock cap of general shocks with bladders but the shocks turned out to be bad in performance, maybe I didn’t get the right setup.
Sure I would like these new shocks to work as they really cut down bladder maintenance and oil filling hazzles.
