Cavalieri & King win at KO Offroad Champs

The 2011 KO Off-Road Championships were held December last weekend at West Coast R/C Raceway in La Mirada, CA. This years event brought in over 180 entries, which included 5 IFMAR World Champions, Ryan Cavalieri, Jared Tebo, Cody King, Brian Kinwald and Hayato Matsuzaki. The race program would run 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday taking each drivers single fastest run to determine the overall qualifying order. Then the top 8 drivers would go straight into the A-Main, with 2 car bump-ups from the lower mains to make a full 10 car field. Triple A-Mains were ran to decide the Champion in each class.

In the 2wd Modified Buggy Class, it was Team Orion/AE’s Ryan Cavalieri who would set the Overall TQ in the class. Also in the A-Main for Team Orion was Jared Tebo starting 2nd. Cavalieri went onto take A-Mains 1 and 2 to take home his first Championship of the weekend. Tebo took A-Main 3 to guarantee him the 2nd spot on the podium.

2wd Modified Buggy Overall Top 3
1. Ryan Cavalieri (TQ) – Team Orion
2. Jared Tebo – Team Orion
3. Brent Thielke – Reedy

In the 4wd Modified Buggy Class, it was Associated’s Brent Thielke taking the TQ spot ahead of Team Orion/Kyosho’s Jared Tebo starting 2nd and Team Orion/AE’s Ryan Cavalieri starting 3rd. Both just missing the overall TQ by 1 second. Tebo went onto take the Win in A-Main 1, with Cavalieri finishing a close 2nd. Cavalieri then went onto take the Win in A-Mains 2 & 3 to take home his 2nd Championship of the weekend.

4wd Modified Buggy Overall Top 3
1. Ryan Cavalieri – Team Orion
2. Jared Tebo – Team Orion
3. Brent Thielke (TQ) – Reedy

In the 2wd Modified Short Course Class, it was Team Orion/Kyosho’s Cody King who would TQ every round of Qualifying to capture the overall TQ. Cody then went onto Win A-Mains 1 & 2 to take home the Overall Championship and Team Orion’s 3rd for the event!
