Jörn Neumann wins German Nitro Buggy nats

Jörn Neumann attended the 2nd and final round of the 1/8 Buggy German Nationals last weekend. The race was held at the MAC Brombachsee Club located in Pleinfeld, Germany. It was another great turnout with just over 100 drivers. The track this time around was a mixture of astroturf, a stone part and plastic mats. It rained most of the day Thursday before the event and the track was very slippery for the first practice run. It got better each round and the lap times dropped. After a few minor set up changes, Jörn was ready to hit the track. On Saturday there were 4 rounds of qualifying and he was able to qualify 2nd overall and was able to set the fastest time in Q3.

There was a little more rain towards the end of Saturday, but the forecast for Sunday was good. The semi final was 20 minutes long, with 6 bumping up to the main final. Jörn had a clean semi, finishing 1st and had the fastest time which gave him the pole position for the 30 minutes main. The Team Durango driver had a great start and was able to build up a few seconds lead over Martin Bayer. During the 30 minute main, Jörn and Martin battled back and forth a few times but in the end Neumann had a comfortable 12 seconds lead. With a win in round 1 and now round 2, Jörn is now the 2012 German National Champion.
