Volker & Sugiura dominate at Yatabe Arena

Yatabe Arena in Japan played host to their Asia On Road and Off Road Championships this past weekend and the event attracted some international drivers in both classes with the likes of Volker, Rheinard, Groskamp, Levanen & Jasmin attending the TC race while Meen V and Charlee made the trip to take part in the Buggy race. Qualifying for the touring car race saw Ronald Volker dominate qualifying ahead of Yokomo team mate Naoto Matsukura in 2nd, while Marc Rheinard would end up in 3rd. In the final it was more of the same from Volker who won the first two legs of the A-main to secure the win while Naoto took the Leg 3 win to take the runner up spot ahead of Rheinard. Current World Champion Groskamp would recover from a 7th place on the grid to take 4th overall.

The buggy race which saw 2wd run on Saturday and 4wd on Sunday would see domination by Kyosho driver Yuusuke Sugiura. Sugiura would take the TQ spot in 2wd ahead of Masatsugu Ido in 2nd and Keisuke Enomoto in 3rd. The final was all Sugiura who won all three legs to win ahead of Enomoto who took 2nd in all 3 legs with Ido taking the final podium step in 3rd. In the 4wd Suigiura would once again win from the pole position but was challenged all the way by newly crowned 200mm World Champion Meen Vejrak who took 2nd and won the 3rd main. Enomoto would complete the podium in 3rd having recovered from a poor first leg.

Thanks to Masami Hirosaka & Alan Chan for the update & photos.
