Protoform PFL128 race body

Seen in a teaser image a while back Protoform have now released full details on the all-new PFL128 race body. This body takes styling cues from a “new for 2013″ LMP2 racer slated to run in the WEC Championship along with 24h of Le Mans. Air management and body rigidity were the prime considerations when re-designing the front fenders and lengthening the side recesses. The PFL128 meets all EFRA (#31531), IFMAR and ROAR body rule requirements and includes headlamp decals, as per ROAR rules. It is available in three weights of genuine lexan: . 040” (regular weight), .030” (light weight) and .025 Lexan® (PRO-lite weight for expert racers only). Included with the PFL128 is protective outer film, body side-stiffeners (w/hardware) and decal sheet.

Man, this body is ugly!
Sorry, I know performance is everything, but why is there still a cockpit? Just forget it and make it a perfect shovel. Would be better than this!

This looks almost the same as the first rc cars I ever saw in 1990. RC racing is a very conservative sport, not much has happened since.
Also my opinion RC racing would be much more populair if more scale realism. This body PF talk about LMP2 and 24h Le Mans What a joke! Where is the scale realism in that cockpit, if this was a full scale car they need to have 5 year old kids to drive this car because any bigger would not fit into it.

Rules, rules, rules. There’s got to be rules! (in writing) Right now, it’s all open to enterpretation. When racers and manufacturers are expected to “self govern” themselves (by EFRA/IFMAR/ROAR) – what else would you expect? It’s “racing” that we’re involved with here, not a concours de elegance. Racers and manufacturers will always do what the rules allow – to go fast – in the hope of winning races. It’s not complicated.

I like it. It is a redesign from anything else before. In the end performance will decide. Dale is correct to say that without specific rules, interpretation decides what is made. I look forward to trying it. Also the paint work is clean, simple, understated and looks racy. Is paint by JGO?
