Alberto Garcia wins Madrid Champs Rd3

Last weekend, Serpent team took part in another Madrid Champs 2013 and Alberto Garcia sent this report. ‘During practice rounds, we got a good feeling with the car. The track was really dusty, so we decide to wait until the line was clear to change something on our Cobra 811 2.0. At the end, we had only to change shock oil because of the high ambient temperature of 30ºC. Qualifying was ok, Oscar Navarro qualified 8th and I was able to be TQ’d in all rounds. We bumped up to the main final without major problems. I won Semi-A and Oscar Navarro finished 2nd in semi-B.

Another Serpent driver, Sergio Barbero, got a place in the main final with a great performance after bumping up from 1/8th to the main final, showing the high speed and endurance for the Cobra 811 2.0. In the main final, I made a mistake in the first lap, losing some places. On the other hand, Oscar Navarro, started from position 6 made a splendid start and took the lead in the first lap. After five laps, I was able to take the lead and build a gap. The track become really hard because of being very bumpy with critical jumps. I tried to focus on not making any more mistake for the rest of the 45 minutes final, looking out for second place Javi Pombo who had a longer refueling strategy. Finally, I was able to win the race, in a perfect weekend for us, followed by Javi Pombo, and Óscar Navarro completing the podium places.’
