Alan Bickerstaff wins 2013 Much-More UK GP

The 2013 Much-More UK GP is in it’s 8th year now with this weekend’s round at the Stonehaven circuit being paired up with another round later in the year at Carlisle Radio Model Car Club on August 17/18th. Stonehaven has always attracted strong support from racers from Northern Ireland and this year, BRCA National Associated driver, Alan Bickerstaff made the long journey along with Graham Kenny (Xray), Scott Kenny (Yokomo), Austin Elliott and Martin Kenny.  Close racing was guaranteed with BRCA National T.O.P. Photon EX driver, Brian Eldridge also making the long trip north from London and some strong local drivers also in the mix.

A new high performance competition racing tyre called the Volante was launched at the event this year and delivered great traction and consistency with many of the top drivers commenting on how little drop of there was from run to run.

In the modified class it was Alan Bickerstaff who set the pace and quickly broke through the 16.00 second lap barrier in the 2nd round of qualifying and after 6 rounds of qualifying the top 3 on the grid were Alan Bickerstaff, Graham Kenny and Brian Eldridge.

Sunshine and warm weather were maintained for the 3 finals with Alan Bickerstaff remaining dominant and taking all 3 wins followed by Scott Kenny, Graham Kenny and Brian Eldridge who were all in the mix of the top 4 each round.  Brian Eldridge managed pulled out a 15.82 second lap in the second final to take the fastest lap of the weekend with the overall modified results being:

In 13.5T Pro Stock class, pole man John Simpson’s Xray took the overall win followed by Callum Keith (Xray) and Chris Briggs (T.O.P.).

In the B final of 13.5T Pro Stock, Jocelyn Meadowcroft took the win from Martin Kenny and Keith Anderton.

The GP also run’s a  couple of supporting classes.  Firstly, SPEC class running 15T brushed or 13.5 ‘blinky’ motors in which Nick Roccas took the overall win from David Fraser and Alex Keith.  Joe Herring from the Carlisle club took 4th place which was a great result for someone who just started racing in the last few weeks.  Secondly, is a stock mini class running a standard Muchmore Clubman motor in which Keith Anderton took the overall win from Chris Briggs both running the T.O.P. Sabre FWD Mini.
