RaceWorks Hobbies on-road endurance race – Report

RaceWorks Hobbies in Singapore recently held its first on-road endurance race. A total of 9 teams took part in the event that was run over 4 hours with the drivers rotating every 40 minutes. Each team, consisting of three to four drivers, ran the Spec-R S1 Sports Edition car powered by 17.5T motors with blinky mode ESCs. A thunderstorm brought things to a halt beforehand but after a 15 minute delay the race started and soon after Team Quantum took over the lead with fast and consistent laps. The team stayed on top for around 2 hours until mechanical problems resulted in several unplanned pit stops allowing Team Trident to close the gap and eventually taking the lead in the 3rd hour.

With just 40 minutes to go both teams where in the same lap with Team Trident being 6 seconds in front of Team Quantum. But then in the very last minute of the race Team Quantum crashed, losing momentum as a result and this gave the leaders room to breathe allowing them to see the chequered flag some two laps ahead of Team Quantum who scored 604 laps in total. Team JonHo came in third with 570 laps and also the other teams successfully finished the race showing the durability of the equipment used.
