Rombouts wins at Dutch nitro on-road season opener

Pedro Rombouts wins at Dutch nitro on-road season opener

The Dutch nitro on-road Nationals started last weekend traditionally at the Real80 Groningen track. In qualification Pedro Rombouts immediately showed a dominant pace with lap times three tens faster over the rest of the field. During the next two round the pace was even better, resulting in a TQ in 48,9 seconds over three conservative laps. Behind Pedro it were Julius Kolff, Milan Holthuis and Daan Stuiver all posting three laps just under 50 seconds.

In the main final Pedro made a small mistake in the very beginning of the race allowing Julius to pass him. The next minutes Pedro and Julius once again had a nice and strong battle. At the second fuel stop Pedro’s crew was really fast putting him in front of Julius’ car. Now Pedro had a clean track and started to pull away from the field. After some 20 minutes a bump surprised Pedro putting him behind Julius again. As Pedro closed in on Julius quickly, Julius got stuck with technical failure. For the last 10 minutes Pedro could easily bring home the race, posting 106 laps. Behind him Daan finished second doing 104 laps. In third talented young man Milan passed the line with 102 laps.
