Ty Tessmann sweeps Neo ’14 race

Ty Tessmann sweeps Neo '14 race

Canada’s Ty Tessmann (Hot Bodies) had an amazing Easter weekend at the Neo ’14 in the UK, leading almost the entire 45-minute A Final to win the main event, plus winning not just the electric buggy race but the Dash for Cash race as well. On Day 2 after 3 rounds of qualifying that saw different drivers and cars taking the top spot, Team Tessmann started cranking up the pressure, starting with the ‘Dash4Ca$h’ race, a single 10-minute race with a fat cash prize. Ty waited for the crashes to sort themselves out and from second place on the track homed in on the leader, who was powerless to stop the young Canadian from running off into the distance. Ty then took his first victory of the Neo.

Before the Nitro finals could begin, the Electric finals were run, and Ty dispatched all comers with ease. Ty started from pole and although he was threatened and even passed for the lead after a spill, he was able to regain the top spot by the end leaving Jared Tebo (Kyosho) and Adam Drake (TLR) behind.

Starting from 3rd on the grid behind TQ Reno Savoya (Xray) and Mugen’s Lee Martin, Ty took an early lead while the other racers squabbled for 2nd place behind him. Not wanting to give Ty an easy win, European Champ David Ronnefalk and World Champ Cody King chased him down, with only Cody succeeding in making a solid pass, having the lead only until a mistake of his own allowed Ty past into the front of the field – a position he would hold until the end of the 45 minutes handing him the win from Cody King (Kyosho) and David Ronnefalk (Kyosho).
