Muchmore UK GP Series championship final – Report

The 2014 Muchmore UK GP Series overall championship concluded this weekend with the Carlisle club hosting the final round of this long established series which started in July with the Stonehaven circuit hosted the first round. As well as the Modified and 13.5T Pro-Stock classes, two classes that have proved successful in introducing younger club drivers to the regional and national circuit were also being raced, these being a Spec motor class and a Mini class.

At the Carlisle round, after two days of qualifying and 3 leg finals, Adam Walker-Catchpole took the win in Modified with Andrew Walters 2nd and Bryan Duffus in 3rd. With Peter Eagles (Xray) gaining a perfect score at the Stonehaven round, he took the overall series title win. Bryan Duffus followed up in 2nd place and Andrew Walters in 3rd.

In 13.5T Pro Stock, Peter Craig, Jocelyn Medowcroft and Christopher Mitchell took the top 3 places for the Carlisle round with Jocelyn Meadowcroft (Hot Bodies) driving exceptionally well to take the overall series title win. Aaron Mackie followed up in 2nd place and Christopher Mitchell in 3rd.

In the Spec class, Nick Roccas, Leslie McKeller and Paul Bignell took the top 3 places for the Carlisle round. The overall series title win also went to Nick Roccas with Keir Duffus and Leslie McKellar completing the podium.

With 25 entries, the successful mini class for the Carlisle A-final went to Paul Davidson (Tamiya), followed by Peter Eagles (T.O.P.) and Bryan Thompson (ABC Grid). Joe Herring, Nick Roccas and Paul Bignell formed the podium in the B Final and Tom Avis, Ben Kinnersley and Edward Burnett made up the top 3 in the C final. The overall series title for mini class went to Paul Davidson (Tamiya) with Peter Eagles (T.O.P.) in 2nd place and Keith Anderton (T.O.P.) in 3rd. Finally, the overall trophy for highest place Tamiya ‘M0’ chassis went to Jocelyn Meadowcroft who finished in 5th place overall, as Paul Davidson had already taken the main overall Mini title with a Tamiya this excluded him from the highest place Tamiya chassis award. The concourse de elegance awards went to Ben Kinnerlsey (Mini) and Chris Mitchell (Touring Car).
