Mike Gosvig wins Danish 1/8th off-road nats Rd7
The 7th and final round of the Danish 1/8th off-road nationals was held in Bramming. The purpose-built track was located within a large indoor riding arena and offered quite a low grip and one or the other tricky jump. Following Saturday’s 1/8th E-buggy race the nitro buggies would race on Sunday. The opening qualifier saw Magnus Frandsen taking the round TQ from Mike Gosvig and Henning Warner. In the second round Mike stroke back on new tyres, securing himself the TQ some 2 seconds in front of Magnus Frandsen and Pelle Culmsee. For the third round Mike changed his tactics and tried to get the maximum out of his buggy which at the end paid out as the TQ’d the round some 11 seconds from Jan D. Hansen in 2nd spot.
Round four again went to Mike although he was a little bit slower after trying to make some setup changes. At the end he still took the overall TQ from Magnus Frandsen and Pelle Culmsee. Following the semifinals Mike started from pole position into the final that he lead at first but following a small driving error Magnus was in the lead after putting pressure on Mike who soon after was able to overtake Magnus for the lead. Some laps later Magnus crashed and this allowed Jan D. Hansen to get into 2nd spot but after a good fight with Magnus Jan ran out of fuel. In the meantime Mike was able to built a 2-lap gap but all of a sudden his buggy’s engine started to run very rich and soon after stalled so he had to be taken back to the pit for refuelling and some mixture adjustment. After entering the track again Mike still was about 10 seconds in front of Magnus and some swift laps secured Mike the win one lap ahead of Magnus Frandsen and Pelle Culmsee with the latter suffering a flameout on the last lap allowing Magnus to claim the runner-up spot.
