Ogden wins as Whitenton
 takes 2nd at Southern Nats

This past weekend the 2014 U.S. Southern Nationals were held in West Monroe, Louisiana at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center on a flowing track that has a lot of elevation changes. In the Nitro Buggy main Cade Whitenton got a good start, moving up to 3rd in the first lap coming from 6th on the grid. Taylor Petersen and Jason Branham were out in front with Cade being about 3 seconds behind them when Jason ran into engine troubles and Cade was moved up to 2nd to settle behind Taylor just to find Petersen coming into the pit lane for his own engine troubles. This moved Whitenton up to 1st with a pretty good gap on 2nd place Cole Ogden.

Cade started opening up the gap and it was as big as 15 seconds at one point but with about 15 minutes left, he over-jumped the centre triple a little bit, causing his car to chassis slap really hard and flame out. Once his crew got it back to the pits it fired right back up, but the damage was done and Cade lost about 50 seconds but he had built such a good gap that he only dropped two places to 3rd, just a few seconds behind Aaron Reynolds who was in 2nd. Cade managed to pass him back and set his sights on trying to catch Cole who was just under a lap ahead of him in 1st. Cade was closing the gap but he just ran out of time allowing Cole Ogden to take the win. Cade Whitenton came in 2nd while Aaron Reynolds completed the top 3 result.
