Mibosport Cup 2014/2015 Rd5 – Report

Round 5 and the grand finale of the 2014/15 Mibosport Cup was held this past weekend with a total of 180 entries that split into 83 on-road and 97 off-road entries. The premier Touring Car Modified class saw a fight between Kuba Šimurda and Jiří Vyšín with the two also dominating the previous round 4. In qualifying Kuba took the TQ ahead of Jiří with Mario Sowka sitting in 3rd spot. In the first two A-mains, Kuba Šimurda and Jiří Vyšín both scored a win with Mario being the only driver who could catch up with the two front runners. Kuba was then leading A-main 3 and did not allow Jiří to overtake him so Kuba took the overall win with Jiří Vyšín coming in 2nd ahead of Mario Sowka.

In the Stock LRP class, after a battle with Oliver Havránek and René Kölbel, Jürgen Horn took the TQ and the pole position for the finals. Jürgen then went on to win all three A-mains but he had to control Oliver who was chasing after him. Behind Jürgen, Oliver Havránek came in 2nd while René Kölbel ended the day in 3rd which was still enough to hand him the overall win of the 2014/15 Mibosport Cup in the Stock LRP class.

The Austrian matador, Herbert Weber, took the TQ in the Formula class after a great battle with René Kölbel and Sascha Klug and in dominant fashion Herbert also came out successful in A1 and A2 to take the overall win. Herbert then opted to sit out the final A-main to allow the remainder of the field to battle for the runner-up spot and it was René Kölbel who took the win in the final A-main ahead of Mario Sailer. René thus finished 2nd overall ahead of Mario.

The qualifying of the 1/12th scale class was a very close affair and the TQ finally went to Kuba Šimurda ahead of Daniel Rosenmayer and Igor Lipták. Kuba then was very unlucky in the mains when he unfortunately did not finish any of the finals. Instead Manfred Resch won the first final with Daniel Rosenmayer and Igor Lipták behind. The standings in the second and third final was the same when Daniel Rosenmayer finished 1st with Igor Lipták in 2nd and Tomáš Lipták in 3rd. The overall win went to Daniel Rosenmayer with Igor Lipták and Manfred Resch completing the podium.

A very close qualifying of the 2WD Buggy class was won by Michal Orlowski who took the TQ with 18 laps and the time of 5:06.830 ahead of Kája Novotný and Maximilian Hauenschild. Michal then went on to win all three A-mains but all eyes were to the battle between Kája Novotný and Radek Flek, who were fighting not only for the overall 2nd place but also for the Mibosport Cup title. After the first two A-mains, the battle between Kája and Radek was still open. Kája started from a better position in the third final and Radek was trying to find a way past Kája right from the start. Unfortunately, Radek made a mistake and dropped down to 5th position but he did not give up and after a while, he was catching after Kája again. Unfortunately for him he made another mistake and his title hopes were then gone. Michal Orlowski finished first overall with Kája Novotný and Radek Flek completing the podium.

Mibosport Cup 2014/2015 Rd5 – Report

In the 4WD class Kája Novotný dominated the qualifying from the first heat on. Kája stayed unbeaten both in qualifying and in the first two A-mains, to take the day’s win and with the the series title. Kája then sat out A3, allowing Michal Orlowski to win the final. Michal finished 2nd overall with Maximilian Hauenschild completing the podium.
