Oskar Fjeld wins at Banken Cup Rd2

The second round of the Norwegian Banken Cup was held in Kvinesdal on a large indoor carpet track. The Touring Car Modified class once again attracted a strong field of drivers. The race format saw two rounds of qualifying followed by triple mains. In the first round of qualifying reigning Nordic champion and Schumacher driver Nikolai Haaheim started out TQ-ing the round from Xray drivers Rune Svestol and Oskar Fjeld.

In the second qualifier Oskar Fjeld, who recently changed to an Xray, was flying around the track, setting the fastest lap of the race. However a small mistake on the last laps would see him ending 2nd on the grid for the finals. Up front Nikolai was on pole with his round one result. Rune Svestol put his car in 3rd followed by the Yokomos of Tobias Sanden and Oyvind Stusdal in 4th and 5th respectively.

In the first final everyone got away clean and was following each other closely. Nikolai, Oskar and Rune started to pull away. Nikolai would roll his car some laps into the race, allowing Oskar to pass, only to also roll his car and dropping to 3rd. Oskar swiftly recovered to 2nd and he would catch up with Nikolai but it was to late to make an attempt to pass so Nikolai took the win from Oskar and Rune.

In the second final Oskar was again following Nikolai closely and as Nikolai rolled his car on the curbs, and with Oskar being close behind, the latter did the same. However Oskar came out of the situation in front of Nikolai and he took the win in the second final while Nikolai later had to retire. Rune finished 2nd and Tobias in 3rd.

In the last and deciding final Oskar capitalised from a small mistake of Nikolai in the first lap, and he then controlled the gap to the tone to take a long awaited overall win. Nikolai finished 2nd and with that secured the runner-up spot on the podium from Rune, who once again finished 3rd.
