Janos Birinyi wins Hungarian National Championship

Janos Birinyi wins Hungarian National Championship

The final round of the Hungarian National Championship was held at a new place using a new carpet, making for unknown conditions for the drivers. In the Touring Car 13.5T Stock class Janos Birinyi lead the standings going into the final round and with his closed competitor being absent from the race he already secured the overall championship early. Without pressure Janos took the TQ in his class to start the finals from pole position.

The opening final then saw Janos dropping back in the early stages of the leg following a driving error but he was able to recover and made the best out of the situation. Come A2 Janos held everything together and he was able to win the leg so the third and final A-main would decide on the day’s win. As Janos’ rental motor wasn’t up to its full performance and with several collisions at the front of he pack he again dropped down the field but when the dust settled the overall win went to Janos after the tiebreaker had to decide the A-main result. The win cemented his leading position in the championship and with it his second national title.
