Belgian Electric Touring Car Nationals Rd4 – Report

The RCR Club in Roeselare held the fourth round of the Belgian Electric Touring Car Nationals on their fast and flowing outdoor track. In the EFRA class Olivier Bultynck took the TQ in front of Nick Joosens and Mitchell Van Es. Stefan Rommens rounded out the top 4 in the fastest of the three classes of the weekend. In the first lap of the opening final Olivier Bultynck and Nick Joosens made contact and Olivier had to recover from the back of the field but already on the second lap Olivier choose to save his tyres and he stopped his car. Meanwhile Mitchell Van Es was in the lead closely followed by Thomas Stockman and Rico Claeys but Nick Joosens was fighting back and he took 3rd place from Rico. Ultimately Mitchell grabbed the win in front of Thomas.


The second final was a whole different story. Olivier had to fight back and was eager to take the win and after a splendid start of Olivier, Nick did everything to follow but the pace was high and Nick made a mistake. Mitchell was now in 2nd spot and Thomas was hot on his heels while Olivier up front took the win with a huge lead and Mitchell kept his 2nd place in front of Thomas. At the start of the third final Olivier again had a good take off with Nick fighting for his 2nd place while Mitchell made a mistake. Olivier again came in 1st and Nick was able grab the 2nd place while Thomas was a happy 3rd. Overall Olivier Bultynck (VBC Racing) took the win in front of Mitchell Van Es (Yokomo) and Thomas Stockman (Yokomo).

In the Stock class Athan De Witte put his car on the pole position for the finals in front of Dirk De Ceulaerde in 2nd and Dylan Senaeve in 3rd. Christophe Charlier and Géry Ledocq completed the top 5. From the start of the first final Athan was pushing hard. Dirk tried to follow but he had Dylan right behind with the latter having to overtake Dirk to stay close to Athan but Athan was fast and Dylan did everything right but the gap was too big. So Athan took the win, Dylan finished in 2nd and Géry came in 3rd. Athan was really in his element on this track. The second final was a walk in the park for the youngster. Dirk and Dylan had a great fight but at the end of this final they touched each other in the fast corner after the straight and both went off. Géry finished 2nd behind Athan and Christophe Charlier was a good 3rd. In the third final Athan again had a good start and he took the lead but made a mistake on lap five. This allowed Dylan to slip into the lead. Dirk was in trouble with his car while Christophe took 2nd place. Up front Dylan took the win while Géry came in 3rd. Overall Athan De Witte (VBC Racing) came out successful from Dylan Senaeve (Xray) and Géry Ledocq (VBC Racing) in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the Formula class Olivier Bultynck too the TQ from Michel Mahieu and Steve Deblaere. Right from the start of the first final Olivier went away and he had a clean run to take the win in the opening A-main. Further down the field Nicolas Delisé overtook Steve and Michel to take the 2nd place. Maxim Naegels finished in 3rd after a very good run. The second final again held bad luck for Steve Deblaere while up front Olivier was in the lead and Michel had to defend his 2nd place against a hard charging Nicolas Delisé. Ultimately Olivier took the win and Michel managed to keep Nicolas behind. In the third final Steve had a splendid start as he overtook Michel who was fighting for the runner-up spot and he was trying to hold Nicolas and Krist Bultynck behind. Up front Steve took the win from Michel and Nicolas. Overall Olivier Bultynck (VBC Racing) took the win from a happy Michel Mahieu (VBC Racing) and Nicolas Delisé (VBC Racing) in 3rd.
