Merlin Depta wins at German Nitro On-road Regionals

Merlin Depta wins at German Nitro On-road Regionals

During last weekend’s North German Nitro On-road Regionals in Hildesheim not only the 1/10th 200mm category was run but also the premier class of 1/8th on-road. After a rainy practice on Saturday the weather forecast for Sunday guaranteed a dry finals day. Starting from the 2 spot on the grid behind international ace Lars Hoppe (ARC/Reds/Shepherd), Merlin Depta (Serpent/Xceed/Xceed) was able to keep up the pace with Lars. With Andreas Giesa (Shepherd/Picco/Shepherd) in 3rd position Lars and Merlin started to lap the field within the first two pit stops. With a small gap of about only 2 seconds between Lars and Merlin, Hoppe made a mistake and he had to went through the grass, allowing Depta to take advantage of the situation. Further down the field Serpent’s Lennart Skornia (Serpent/Orcan/Shepherd) was able to overtake 3rd placed Giesa with only a couple of minutes to go. At the end Merlin was able to take the win from Lars with a 1-lap margin and in the progress Merlin also set a new official track record of 13,011 seconds at the AMC Hildesheim track.
