Dutch Electric On-road Nationals Rd6 – Report

The final round of the Dutch Electric On-road Nationals was held at the fast and flowing track of the MAC De Baanbrekers in Rucphen this past weekend. The nice weather made for perfect racing conditions and the event started out with free practice on Saturday with the usual classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock and Formula would be accompanied by the 10.5T Pro10 class who made a guest appearance. In the Modified class Mitchell van Es (Yokomo) was the man to beat all weekend. After the three qualifiers he took the TQ followed by Govert Verbeke (Xray) and Rob Jansen (Team Magic). In the finals Mitchell would again show his skills as he made a clean sweep to take the win from Rob Jansen and Athan de Witte (VBC).

In the Pro Stock class it was Sybrand de Boer (Kyosho) who led the proceedings from Tim Jansen (Serpent) and Martijn Spaans (VBC). In the triple A-mains Sybrand made maximum use of his pole positions to take the day’s win while behind him things got mixed up due to some accidents. Rick van den Akker (Xray) grabbed a lucky runner-up spot while Martijn Spaans would secure the final podium spot.

The Formula class drivers at first struggled with a moist track but once the sun came out the grip was there and laptimes improved. At the end of the qualifying Martijn van der Heijden (Xray) came out fastest from Patrick Jongenelis (Serpent) and Dennis van de Wagt (Xray). In the finals the two frontrunners Martijn and Patrick battled it out but unfortunate errors of Martijn allowed Patrick to secure the overall win early. In the third A-main Martijn again had a bobble that made him dead last. A couple of laps into the race he had already recovered to a 4th place and he would be able to grab the third place by passing local Orfeo Tremour in the very last corner to take the third place. Up front Patrick came out successful from Dennis who cemented the final podium spot with a second place.
