Tim Jansen wins Formula class at Benelux Race

This past weekend the 2016 Benelux Race was held at the MAC de Baanbrekers club in Rucphen, NL. The event saw the running of several electric on-road classes and in Formula 21.5T blinky, run on Ride tyres, Steve managed to take the TQ in the first three rounds of the qualifying while Patrick was on a solid P2 with three runner-up sports. In the final qualifier, run on Sunday morning, Patrick and Steve both opted not to start, allowing Tim Jansen to take the final qualifier and with it the 3 spot on the starting grid.

In the opening A-main the race for the top spot was on between Steve, Patrick and Tim and after an unlucky coming together between Patrick and Steve, Tim was able to cruise to the win with Steve in tow. A2 again saw the three swiftly opening a gap on the field and battling it out for the win. Ultimately the top 3 finished in starting order with Steve in the first place from Patrick and Tim. The last and decisive A-main again saw a clean start but early in the race Steve had a problem, promoting Patrick into the lead with Tim in tow. The latter would be able to got past the leader around half-way into the final and the two would have a nice battle until the end and ultimately it was Tim who brought home the win from Patrick so overall it was Tim to take the day’s win with Steve in second and Patrick in third for a Serpent 1-2-3.
