LRP-AE Challenge Italy Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the LRP-AE Challenge Italy was recently held with 70 entries for the four classes of Touring 13.5, Touring 17.5, Formula and Cinquone 299. Touring 13.5 was the most competitive category of the weekend with the top six drivers all being within two seconds. Andrea Simari would walk away with the win from Andrea Valerio who snatched the runner-up spot from fast Denny Giacomelli thanks to winning the third and final A-main. Davide Gianuzzi and Stefano Bizzoco would round out the top 5 result.

In 17.5 four drivers were in the mix for the top spot with all begin within a few tenth of a second. Ultimately it was Daniele Melis to take the day’s win after strong starts from pole position. Gabriele Calvino and Nicola Di Palma came in second and third respectively. Fast Christian Raffo suffered from a couple of mistakes and ended the day on the 4 spot from Tony Simari in fifth.

The Formula class was dominated by Brian Ferrara who took the TQ and also the overall win from Guido Barbera and Simone Brocca. Fabrizio Villa and Davide Carbone came in fourth and fifth respectively.

Finally in the entertaining Cinquone 299 class Andrea Tonini came out fastest in the finals from Simone Pavanello and Massimo Butera.
