6th Annual Spring Classic – Report

The 6th annual Spring Classic race was hosted by Bluegroove Hobbies and Raceway over the Easter weekend. The 3-day event opened with controlled practice on Friday, three rounds of qualifying on Saturday, a fourth round of qualifying on Sunday, and then all of the mains. There were eight classes to compete in with the largest class being 17.5 2wd buggy with 38 entries. The track layout used a mix of straights, table tops, off-camber sections, and a small rhythm section. The last race of the weekend was the Modified 2WD Buggy class, and after the final lap had been counted Alex Vanderbeek took home the win, privateer Drew Rubenking captured 2nd place, and team mate Mason Fuller would take the 3rd place on the podium.


In the Modified 4WD Buggy class Alex Vanderbeek was able to make a late charge to win the single 8 minute main and with it his second title of the weekend. Derek Wood came in 2nd while Mason Fuller again rounded out the top 3 result.

In the Modified Truck class, privateer Drew Rubenking captured the win from Neil Feneis in 2nd and Will Brinton 3rd.

Moving onto the 13.5 4WD Buggy class, top qualifier Dreighton Stoub would lead the race from wire to wire from Caden Shay 2nd and Kaden Fuller 3rd.

In the 17.5 Buggy class Dreighton Stoub finished in 1st, Henriksen in 2nd, and Kyle Gannon in 3rd.

In the 17.5 SCT class Cole Henriksen would lead from start to finish to capture the 1st win with Clynt Coburn and Lee Conley Jr. rounding out the podium result.
