Fischer & Stees win at US Open race

Sun City Raceway of El Paso, Texas played host to the US Open race recently. Joey from The Dirt put in a great layout for the event and it was a lot of fun to drive on as it flowed really well and still worked when the track started to build some character. Tanner Stees (Xray) would put in TQ runs in Q1 of both Nitro Buggy and E-Buggy and he scores P2 runs in Q2 and with these results he was overall TQ in both classes. After winning his semi-final on Sunday, Tanner would start from pole position into the 60-minute A-main, however, he ran into some issues and had a couple of flameouts during the 60-minute period which pretty much put him out of contention to win. Ultimately he was able to bring home a P3 from Casey Peck (Mugen) 2nd and eventual winner, Billy Fischer (Tekno) 1st.

Over in E-Buggy the race started off well for Tanner. He got a clean start and started to pull away until he had a small mistake and got caught up with some traffic which allowed for 2nd to catch back up and have a good battle going once again. For pretty much the rest of the race he had a good battle going until the other driver made a small bobble which allowed Tanner to get a big enough gap till the race was over and allowed him to take the overall victory from the Tekno RC duo of Billy Fischer 2nd and Corbyn Showers 3rd.
