Mibosport Winter Cup Rd4 – Report

The penultimate round of the 2017/18 Mibosport Winter Cup was held in Hrotovice this past weekend. Fresh off the Christmas break a total of 220 drivers signed in for the event that was held in the usual mix of electric on-road and off-road class with 103 entries for the on-road and 117 entries for the off-road categories. Drivers from Austria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and even Italy signed in as did some well-known named from series such as the ETS and EOS. In Touring Modified, Dominic Vogl did not feel confident in qualifications, but it was a brand new story in the final legs. In the first one Oliver Havranek crashed on the roll out lap so that he was forced to score a DNS and nothing could prevent Dominic from taking the win. In the second leg Oliver kept the doors shut setting the final run to be the decider. It was a great fight between those two guys and finally Dominic passed Oliver for the overall. Matej Sulc completed the as Patrick Gollner lost a few spots compared to his starting position and finished 4th in front of Zdeno Kunak.

In Touring Stock Oliver Havranek stroke again. In both final rounds he kept the spectators stunned. This time it was Zdeno Kunak who made company for him in the fight for the 1st spot but in the end Oliver held the upper hand. Zdeno Kunak grabbed the second position and Alexander Mayer became the “best of the rest”. Martin Henschel finished as 4th and Lukasz Mach took the 5th spot.

In the Formula class Andreas Stiebler made it happen. After a few victories for Lukas Hoch he managed to cut his winning streak. But also Thomas Dvorszky also wanted to get onto the top. Unfortunately for him, the same amount of points just was not enough, so he had to satisfy himself with the 2nd position while Herbert Weber scored the 3rd spot. Wolfgang Reichel secured a 4th position and finally Lukas Hoch finished 5th.

In 1/10 GT Michael Klausner did not give any opportunity to the rest of the field and took the overall win. Igor Liptak tried to catch him from the runner up spot on the grid, but with no success. Roman Krejci, who promotes this class in the Czech Republic, experienced his premiere at the Mibosport Cup in the current season and the result was a 3rd place.

1/12 Pan Car had Tomas Liptak showing his strength again. However he had to concern about young Brano Panak from the early stages. The young talent from Slovakia held the TQ until the last round of qualifications. But at the end he had to settle for the 2nd as the 3rd position went to Matej Sulc.

In 4WD Buggy Martin Bayer left no chances for the other drivers and took tone to tone wins and made a clean sweep for the victory. Behind him, Kaja Novotny had to fight for the 2nd spot with Adam Izsay in tow. They ended the finals tie on points with the better tie-breaker handing Kaja the runner-up spot. Max Götzl took the 4th spot and Peter Loncsar completed the top 5.

The 2WD Buggy TQ spot for Martin Bayer was not a surprise at all, but the situation changed suddenly. Kaja Novotny exploited Martin´s mistakes and took home the victory in the class. Martin remained on the runner up position thanks to his TQ position as Adam Izsay had the same amount of points but the tie-breaker handed Martin the better overall position. Ales Bidovsky raised during the whole race and brought home a 4th place in front of Max Götzl who finished 5th.

Finally in 2WD Stock Buggy it was Peter Loncsar with the win from Robert Fekete. The podium was rounded out by Pepa Vich.
