Tim Wood wins BRCA 1/8 Track Nationals Rd3

The third round of the BRCA 1/8 Circuit championship took place at the Halifax RC Track in Yorkshire last weekend. Forecast for the weekend was changeable, but thankfully the rain came over night leaving race days sunny and bright. Sunday saw a round of practice followed by four rounds of qualifying and then finals. Due to a damp track, Q1 was delayed to allow the track to dry. Qualifying saw a struggle for 5-minute runs with the top contenders falling short on fuel. TQ was set in round 1 by Tim Wood from Alex Thurston and John Carr.

The A-final blasted away, with all ten cars getting away off the line. A clean start saw neat and tidy racing with the battle up front between Tim and Alex. A close battle for 3rd saw Andy Hastings battle with John Carr for 3rd position. At the end of a fraught 30 minutes, Tim Wood sealed his 3rd UK National Race win from 3 so far in 2018. Andy Hastings delivered his 2nd podium finish of the season with Alex Thurston talking his first podium of the year.
