The fifth and final round of the Swiss IC Track Nationals was held at the challenging MRC Langenthal track last weekend. In the premier 1/8th IC Track class it was Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch with a clean sweep after the qualifiers to take the overall TQ from ARC’s Silvio Hächler. In the 45-minute A-main however it was Silvio who turned the page, taking the win with a 1-lap margin from Simon Kurzbuch while Xray’s Mattia Pesenti came in 3rd to round out the podium. Round three of the Swiss Nitro On-road Nationals was recently held in Schaffhausen. In the premier 1/8th class Simon Kurzbuch and Silvio Hächler would lead the proceedings at first but in the semifinals things would look a bit different. The first semifinal would be held in dry conditions until the very last minute when it started to rain. Silvio would bring home the win from Mattia Pesenti. The final round of the Swiss Nitro On-road Nationals was held in Lostallo. With round TQs in the first and third qualifier as well as a second place behind Simon Kurzbuch (Shepherd) in the fourth qualifier Mattia Pesenti (Xray) was able to take the overall TQ in the 1/8th class from Luca Martinelli (ARC). Simon came in third while the ARC duo of Christophe Pethoud and Thomas Henzi completed the top 5 after the qualifiers. Simon Kurzbuch has claimed another victory this year by winning at the 5th round of the Swiss 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals. Starting the main final from the pole-position he pulled away right from the beginning. In a perfect race he never looked back and crossed the finishing line 3 laps in front of Mattia Pesenti with Christophe Pethoud completing the podium another lap down. With this result Simon is in a comfortable lead in the championship ranking and he has the best chances to claim the national title at the final round held in Lostallo. We have seen very competitive runs and registered the new track record of Sivio Hächler with his MRX5 and the Novarossi engine. The new trackrecord is now 17,445sec. The 6th round of the Swiss 1/8th scale Nationals took place in Langenthal last weekend. Even if the two Swiss Champions in the Amateur (Stefan Köhl/Shepherd Velox) and Expert (Mattia Pesenti/Motonica) classes were decided, a lot of racers still arrived Friday but the weather and the track was too wet for getting a good setup and just one driver tested his car in Friday afternoon. Round 4 of the Swiss 1/8th scale Nationals took place under very sunny conditions at the nice Sitterdorf track. It was the first race during the season where the racers could drive their cars in dry conditions. The drivers within the expert class made an exciting main final on Sunday afternoon.
