Xray are reporting on the 2008 18th Scale Indoor Off-road Race of Champions that were held last Sunday at RC Madness in Enfield CT. This was the third year that this warm up race for the 18th Scale Off-road Nationals was held and attendance at the race was good with approximately 80 entries. Three rounds of qualifiers were run and then the mains and it was Zack Barry that finished the qualifiers with the TQ in all three classes entered, he also won every qualifier that he ran. …Zack Barry was present with the new M18T Pro and after qualifying for the Open Truck class he lined up 2nd, despite running the fastest lap times. At the start of the main final Zack quickly got by the leader but had a bobble shortly after that, allowing 3rd place driver Tony Phalen to get by. Now running in 2nd place, Zack followed Tony for several laps, slowly closing the gap. Xray have a report on their site from the 1/18th scale East Coast Championships that were held at RC Excitement in Fitchburg, Massachusetts last weekend. Last years Formula 18 truck class winner Zack Barry was present and this year he would also race the micro sedan classes for the first time, having only completed building his M18 Pro chassis’ before the event. Xray have announced that their team driver Zack Barry has just claimed back to back US National titles in 1/18th scale, when he competed last weekend at RC Madness in Enfield Ct. The event attracted over 230 entrants and Zack competed in 4 classes all of which he was highly competitve in. In 4wd brushless class, Zack qualified in 4th, in what turned out to be the fastest and most competitive class of the whole weekend. In the warmup race for the 1/18th scale off road Race of Champions held at RC Madness in Enfield, Conneticut in the end of January, Zack Barry dominated the event driving an Xray M18. Zack had troubles in qualifying but managed to pull it together and take the pole in both classes and then went on to win in both classes too. Zack entered in two different classes, running his Xray M18T in 4wd truck class , and his M18MT in the mini-monster class. Young racer Zack Barry has dominated proceedings at last weekends East Coast Championships held at Pottbellys RC speedway in New Jersey. The report on the Xray site tells how he TQ’d the entire event, even ahead of the 1/18th sedans, with a truck. Zack took the driver’s stand, and went on to complete an amazing 24 lap run. This run not only was TQ for trucks, but also beat the sedan’s best qualifier by a full lap. Zack went on to win the a-main by 2 full laps, followed by Tom Lorranger in 2nd also driving an Xray M18T.
