…to the battle. Alex remained out front managing the gap to the ever fast Mark and Tim and managed to take the win by 9 seconds. Tim and Mark had an intense battle, Mark closing in on Tim in the last 4 minutes. Then a small mistake from Mark dropped him back giving Tim some breathing room. People watching at that point thought Tim and his 2nd place was safe, but as always you can never underestimate the speed of Mark and on the final lap he managed to pass Tim flat out coming off the sweeper to take P2….

With the first event in the 2021 GTS set to take place next month (June 12-13) at the Autodromo di Vallelunga near Rome in Italy the organisers are pleased to confirm a number of high profile racers set to be in attendance. Xray are to be represented by a strong team consisting of multiple World Champion Bruno Coelho who will compete alongside the car’s designer, and himself a top international racer, Martin Bayer. The multi-discipline specialist and multiple Italian National Champion Alessio Mazzeo is also confirmed and he will head the Serpent team’s entry alongside British National Champion Mark Green….

…most of the rest of the qualifying, only getting out for Q4. Tim Wood (Shepherd) would take the top spot in qualifying in front of Kyle Branson (Capricorn) in 2nd, with Thurston, winner of the 4 rounds of the series to date, in 3rd, with Mark Green (Serpent) and David Spashett completing the top 5. At the end of the 30 minute A-final, Alex Thurston would claim victory ahead of his team mate Kyle Branson, with Mark Green in 3rd. …Mikey Mansell, Rob Scott and Michael Lee with Capricorn driver Mikey taking TQ. In the final Alex Thurston made it a Capricorn white wash winning the nitro A-final with a superb drive he was in a league of his own, James Conolly’s challenge ended early on and Tim Wood (Shepherd) had a poor start but managed to work his way through to take second from Mark Green (Serpent) and Andy Hastings who had started off well. In the Electric finals Mikey was dominant to take the win for Capricorn but had to hold off challenges from Jamie and Rob also…

…for the overall championships. In 200mm Touring Joe Kerry (Capricorn) had already clinched the title and wasn’t at Brooklands. Matt Cook (Serpent) took a well deserved 2nd place with Steward Mcleod (Xray) in 3rd. In 220mm GT Mark Green (Serpent) took the overall title just in front of last year’s winner Glyn Beal (Capricorn). Barry Abbott (Xray) capped of a good weekend by taking the final championship podium spot. In GT8 Nitro Glyn Beal took the title from Matt Baker and Barry Thompson. …the early heats would be the target. 200mm Touring saw Joe Kerry (Capricorn) keep up his reputation for performance in wet conditions easily taking the FTD. Neil Wallace (Serpent ) qualified in 2nd with Matthieu Dambrine a creditable 3rd. 1/8 GT was very interesting with the Electric car of Paul Bellinger seemingly on rails with the rest of the field chasing. …in round 2 and 3 but Mark Green managed 20 laps. Tim Wood was also on the pace for 20 laps but could only do 19 in 298 in round 3. After round 4 FTD went to Mark Green (Serpent) with 20 in 315, followed by Tim Wood (Shepherd) with 19 in 298. David Spashett (ARC) was 3rd with 19 in 301.
