Smokem Hot Bodies TCX-FX chassis
The Hot Bodies TCX gets the Smokem treatment with the TCX-FX chassis. Firstly they have reduced the width of the chassis by almost 10mm and with an overall width of only 94mm, scrubbing during hard cornering is minimized. The 2.2mm thick chassis has been designed to provide additional flex to deliver more grip and a wider tuning window so you can dial-in your car in over a wide range of temperature and track conditions. Other improvements include 2 additional LiPo support holes, which allow you to install locating nuts to bring the LiPo battery 5mm closer to the centerline of the car. We have also added front and rear balancing holes so you can balance your TCX with balance pins. All this translates to a faster car over a wider range of conditions.

LD Racing Products HB aluminum wing spacers
Developed in collaboration with RPP Hobby/LD Racing Products team drivers Joe Nolasco and Blake Cannon, this machined aluminium wing spacer kit eliminates wing mount flexing and breakage issues on the Hot Bodies and HPI lines of 8th scale kits. The wing spacer kit weighs about 1 gram less than the stock plastic setup and includes all hardware required to install onto your vehicle. Also included are M4x3mm set screws that can be used to fill the empty wing angle adjustment holes to prevent tearing of the side plates during hard crashes.

Jesse Robbers extends contract with Hot Bodies
Continuing with the driver signing news, HB and HPI have announced that 1/8th buggy Worlds A-Finalist and consistent front runner Jesse Robbers has extended his contract with HB. He will continue to partner Ty Tessmann and Atsushi Hara in the factory squad and will run the D8 Hara Edition buggy and D8T truggy. Jesse had this to say about his new contract:
I will continue to race for HB throughout the 2011 racing season. I started racing for HB at the beginning of 2008 and the past few years have been very good for the both of us. I feel the platform of cars and tires HB offers has been a key factor that has, and continues, to help me improve my results on a consistent basis. The cars are very durable, easy to drive, and fast all while being offered at a low price. The tyres have great performance while outlasting other brand tires. From the beginning HB has been very open to accepting me into their company and has allowed me additional responsibilities which continue to prove beneficial for us. I look forward to continuing the awesome relationship HB and I have and also I to the great things to come in 2011 from HB. I do not plan to change any of my other sponsors and I will continue to use O.S. Speed Engines, Sidewinder Fuel, KO Propo radio and servos, HB Tires, HPI Racing and Avid R/C.

Hot Bodies D8 Trick body
Developed by Atsushi Hara and coming close to winning the World title, Hot Bodies have released the Trick body for the D8. This body is a performance enhancing part that will lower your lap times. A steep angled cab forward design provides high downforce in the front end of the car while side pod wings provide downforce in the rear, making high traction and stability all around. In Hara’s own words, this body gives more controllable front traction without giving away rear traction. Molded from clear polycarbonate plastic for durability and long life it comes supplied with complete decal sheet with official logos, overspray film and pre-cut vinyl window masks.

Hara testing new shell for Hot Bodies D8
Reigning 1/8th scale World Champion Atsushi Hara has been seen testing a new cab forward bodyshell (click image for larger version) for the Hot Bodies D8. Using it to TQ the recent Japanese Nationals, this type of design would offer faster steering response as well as better cooling and more airflow to the rear wing, while rear winglets add extra downforce to the back end of the car. A unique feature is what looks like a roll over hoop integrated into the body, just forward of the cooling head, which would help protect the engine in the event of a crash, something that can easily happen at a punishing high speed track like the one in Pattaya for next week’s World Championships. We have contacted Atsushi for more information but most likely will find out more this weekend when we arrive in Thailand.

Hot Bodies Megagrid & Beams 1/8th tires
Hot Bodies have a number of new tire releases for 1/8th scale, starting with the Megagrid. Suitable for a wide variety of off-road and on-road surfaces including loose topsoil right on down to hard-pack, this is our most versatile tire and should be used when you go to a new track because it will be a good starting point everywhere. With interlocking lugs that feature varied step height and a medium gap, these tires provide high bite even in the worst of conditions. Available in Pink, Red and White compounds. The HB Beams are suitable for hard & dry off-road surfaces such as hard-packed clay and ‘blue groove’ high bite conditions and also work great on indoor tracks. With criss-cross bars crossing the tire and small bars in between they resemble an unfinished skyscraper in appearance. Scraping up traction where there is none. Now available in Pink and Red compounds.
