Italian tyre manufacturer ATS, who won the 1:10 200mm World Championship in August with Daniele Ielasi, were in touch to tell us that they have just moved into a brand new 1500 square metre building. By moving to the all new factory ATS say they will be able to speed up production. One very interesting feature of the new building are the two test tracks that are being built to the side the new facility.

Team Durango founded Categories - Brand, Durango, Industry - 6 comments
Gerd Strenge and Michael Vollmer are proud to announce the founding of a new company Team Durango. The Team Durango name has been around the scene since 1999 when the first Durango 4WD 1/10 electric 4WD buggy was made by Gerd Strenge. What followed was a very successful history of national and international victories including wins at the German and Australian National Championships but the highlight winning the 2004 European Championship in Italy in the hands of the very talented Jörn Neumann. Although only available to the public as hand built one-off cars the Team Durango 1/10 4WD buggy has a large following in the buggy scene and is one of the most anticipated cars on the planet. The same applies to the Team Durango 1/8 scale nitro buggy that is around for nearly two years now. The prototype not only won the highly competitive Pro-Line Dirt Challenge 2007 race held in the UK but also holds many top-spots in national and international races. Both cars, the so called DEX410 1/10 electric 4WD buggy as well as the DNX408 1/8 nitro buggy are about to be released under the new Team Durango name very shortly. But there is more: Team Durango is also developing a 1/8 scale nitro truggy and currently working on several general products in the likes of a Jörn Neumann signature tool series, useful and innovative wrenches, merchandise and lots more.

Xray Column - Euros Preparation Categories - Industry, Products, Racing, Xray - comments closed
A double bill from Xray today with the 21st and 22nd installment in the Xray column from company owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about both the preparations for the 1/8th scale Euros in Greece and the 1/10th scale Euros in Spain.
With our own factory indoor track, life has been made a bit easier. Martin built a copy of the Euros track layout and we gathered all the recent improvement ideas we had and prepared all the prototype parts for testing. The performance, handling, durability, and geometry have all been at the highest level for our T2’008 and as such we could focus on the smaller details (especially on reducing weight) and test different drivetrain parts.

I’m a long time racer and have been lucky enough to share time and be friends with great racers like Matt Francis, Lloyd Dassonville and Phillip Atondo. I know how hard it is to compete at that level and look forward to supporting you guys as best as I can. I look forward to working closely with you as a whole and individually. Serpent moving production to Asia Categories - Industry, Products, Serpent - comments closed
We have received the following statement from Dutch company Serpent MRC outlining their latest restructuring plan. An established company, in existence for over 25 years, it has had to release this statement to counter other unfounded reports of their demise that started to spring up on the internet last night. The release states that the company is still going strong and has in fact only moved all of its production to Asia, which will have an effect on how distributors will purchase their products. Their headquarters in the Netherlands will continue to operate, but will now only handle R&D, Sales and Marketing.

Olympics to cause RC fuel price increase Categories - Fuel, Industry, Racing - comments closed
There has been much talk recently about the short supply of nitro but it would appear the up coming Olympic Games in China will cause a price increase of between 15 & 20% in the retail price of model car fuel. The biggest reason for the increase is that the main factories supplying nitro to model fuel manufacturers have been closed for the duration of the games as the Chinese try to reduce air pollution levels to those set out by the International Olympic Committee.
