Serving nearly 5 years as Marketing Manager at HPI Racing, Rodney brings his experience in publishing, marketing and event management to Axial. His extensive background and knowledge in various industries including automotive, snowboarding, skate and surf make him the perfect person to direct all of Axial’s Global Marketing endeavors. “We are excited to be adding someone with Rodney’s experience to our evolving Axial team.” Says C.E.O. Axial is the market leader in the rock crawling segment. Not only do their amazing products provide great detail and workmanship, but they also understand that the RC lifestyle is much more than just producing product; the SCX10 line has really peaked my interest also because of how its full scale realism is continuing to drive the market. Now that I am a part of the Axial team, I am looking forward to growing with the company and making their brand as great and fun as their products.

Makita & Kicker form Partnership with Team Associated

Makita & Kicker form Partnership with Team Associated

Makita Industrial Power Tools and Kicker Performance Audio have formed a partnership with Team Associated to support its team of pro R/C drivers during the 2010 and 2011 racing seasons. Details of the partnership are not available at this time, but sources claim the deal goes far beyond product sponsorship. Cliff Lett, Vice President of Team Associated, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership:

This deal marks the beginning of corporate team sponsorship in the R/C industry. Makita and Kicker are premium product leaders in their industries, much like Team Associated is in R/C, and both have products that appeal to the same demographics as our industry. They have already proven to be strong supporters of our team, and we are very proud to have them on board.

Look for the Associated team to be wrenching on their cars using Makita power tools, rocking out to their favorite tunes on Kicker audio systems, and sporting new branding on their race cars and team apparel.

LRP ‘Boost 0′ speed control proposal

LRP 'Boost 0' speed control proposal

LRP have announced that they are sending a rule proposal for ‘Boost 0 speed controls’ to all the important RC federations to help create a new standard for this setting in all ESCs. As there was no exact definition of ‘Boost 0′, the drivers couldn’t be sure that the ‘Boost 0′ speed controls from the different manufacturers were on the same performance level. With the LRP rule proposal, the definite technical meaning of ‘Boost 0′ is now clearly defined for the very first time. Other manufacturers also get a firm base to ensure that ‘Boost 0′ speed controls of different manufacturers can be allowed in one class, because they are based on the same preconditions. Speed controllers eligible for ‘Boost 0′ classes must provide zero timing advance, along with disabling advanced motor control functions (i.e. Boost, Cheat Mode, Turbo, etc). When the ‘Boost 0′ profile is enabled, it shall be indicated by a blinking LED while the ESC is armed and in neutral position. The commutation sequence is limited to ’6-step’ type and commutation of the speed control must follow the motors hall sensor signals 1:1, e.g. no shifted timing (no matter if advanced or retarded) is allowed at any RPM.
