Taylor Peterson to run Nitrotane

Team Losi were in contact to tell us that Mugen driver Taylor Peterson will run their Nitrotane fuel this coming season. “I will be starting the 2011 Race season using Nitrotane Fuel. I would like to thank them for the opportunity to run what I believe the best fuel out there, I will work hard to get great results and look forward to working together at the track. :) On that note I would like to take the time to thank EB Mods for their support this past season with their fuel. They are a great company and I wish nothing but success for them!”

Capricorn LAB-E01 2011 version & KEL850 treated muffler

Capricorn have announced the 2011 version of their .12 touring car engine. The new version comes with a large head and underhead, optional on the WC edition engine, but which has been used by Martin Christensen to take victory at this year’s Euros. The new additions allow for a higher running temperature and the use of a hot glow plug. Capricorn have also released this KEL850 treated Novarossi 2660 Muffler. This new treatment will replace the original hard coated version as it can be used on any kind of aluminium, not only ergal. This new ceramic-titanium treatment gives incredible hardness up to 65 Rockwell and results in higher durability and performance of the muffler as well as optimal resonance. Danish Company HeatIt have released their first product, this pre heater for nitro engines. Perfect for the current cold weather, pre heating your engine will result in a very easy and smooth engine start. It is also perfect for breaking-in your new engine and at the same time will extend the lifespan of your engine. Powered by 220v so it can be used in the pit area, it removes the need for batteries or 12v transformers.

Orcan to enter .21 on road engine market

Orcan engines have been successful in the categories on-road scale (.12) and off-road (.21) for years and have achieved lots of national and international victories and championships. Starting with the 2010 season, SMI Motorsport from Germany is working on the development of an Orcan engine for the highest level of RC on-road racing, the 1/8 scale nitro class. A couple of drivers have been involved in testing the Orcan prototypes which are based on 7-port and 9-port engines from Novarossi and were specially prepared by Michael Heinrich (MH-Tuning). Powered by one of these Orcan test engines Uwe Baldes has achieved a remarkable success at the final round of the Nitro-West-Masters, a series of four races, held in October at Dormagen near Cologne. Using the 7-port version he captured pole position and set a new overall lap record (15,179 sec) beating the old record held by Michael Salven. “I have tested this .21 prototype engine on several circuits. This engine has proven its excellent performance with lots of torque at low revs and an impressive driveability – both valuable aspects especially for those tracks we are used to race in Germany”, concluded Uwe Baldes. “Furthermore the fuel consumption is really low – it is already a real Orcan engine and a promising basis for the future.” Also Bertram Kessler of SMI Motorsport is pleased by the test results. “With the new Xray RX8 hitting the market in 2011 it is logical that we are going to launch a .21 on-road power unit which offers the usual quality features of all Orcan engines. In the period of testing we have gained valuable experiences which will help us to develop a powerful and high efficient Orcan engine for 1/8 scale racing.”

MLC Extreme fuel

After intensive development and testing LC Racing have announced the new MLC Extreme fuel by Lamberto Collari. Available in 2.0 liter cans only, this new mixture is especially formulated for 1/10 and 1/8 on road cars and is available in 16% and 25% nitro. While the 2010 formula will continue to be available, the Extreme fuel helps obtain lower temperature, lower consumption and more power.

RB 204mm compact manifold

As mentioned in our World Championship coverage, RB have designed and developed a special compact 204mm manifold for increased bottom end power. Designed for ‘American style’ tracks with big jumps, this manifold claims to be a big advantage in term of power. Also available in 192mm and 198mm versions, it is polished both inside and out and supplied with exhaust gasket and springs.

The long-awaited Reedy 121VR-ST Competition Nitro Engine has finally arrived. Extensively track-tested by Reedy factory drivers such as Ryan Maifield, Craig Drescher, Neil Cragg and Richard Saxton, the VR-ST incorporates state-of-the-art features in a proven package. The current 121VR engine has proven to be an economically priced, powerful race engine, but the 121VR-ST takes performance to an entirely new level with the addition of a balanced ADLC-coated crankshaft, ceramic rear bearing, lightweight piston and ADLC coated wrist pin.
