David Crompton confirmed for Team Magic Categories - Team Magic, Gas, Off Road, Racing, Drivers - comments closed
After David Cromptons debut last weekend at the Neo Invitational in which he drove the all new Team Magic M1B and got into the main final, it seem obvious that the British Champion was destined to race this car in 2007, and now it has been confirmed.
CML are very excited about having the top driver in British Rallycross to help bring this car to the market and look forward to a enjoyable and fruitful season. David will be joined in the Team Magic camp by Dave Bailey, another top driver from the CML stable and we believe with these two drivers we have very strong driver line up to promote the M1-B.

Former 1/10th scale 4wd electric buggy European Champion Chris Doughty made his 1/8th scale gas buggy race debut last weekend at the Neo Invitational Indoor event. Driving his LRP powered HoBao he put on a solid show to claim 17th overall and even managed to bump up from his 1/4 final into the semi despite struggling with longer than 5 minute run times and only loosing his fuel stop virginity during his first final.
He has written a long and detailed report on his race weekend so check it out here.

Adam Drake reigns supreme at 2006 Neo Invitational Categories - Events, Gas, Off Road, International, Racing - comments closed
Adam Drake, as expected has won the 2006 Neo Invitational event in both buggy and Truggy classes. The class of the field all weekend, the American Team Losi racer won with ease by 3 laps over second place Crono driver Davide Tortorici in 2nd and with Greg Degani in 3rd driving for HoBao. In the truggy class it was more of the same for ‘The Drake’ but the margin was less than a lap this time over the 2nd placed CEN racer Andrew Smolnik with Graham Alsop a further 2 laps back driving a HoBao rounding off the podium.

Adam Drake breaks 9 laps to take TQ at Neo Invitational Categories - Events, Gas, Off Road, International, Racing - comments closed
It seems that this years Neo Invitational race is all about Adam Drake and the Team Losi 8ight. Adam has secured TQ in both the buggy and the truggy class and although the margins arent as big as seen yesterday they are still substantial with his margin in buggy over second place Robert Batlle around 5 seconds and was the only racer to get 9 laps. In truggy it was more of the same with the margin over again 2nd place Robert Batlle nearly 10 seconds. It looks like baring any major hiccup, ‘The Drake’ should take home the 2 titles tomorrow.
Other notables are Neil Cragg the European & World electric buggy champion is placed in 4th in the buggy class whilst David Crompton took an impressive 13th position with the new Team Magic M1B obviously having ironed out some of the problems he was facing yesterday.

Adam Drake heads practice at Neo Invitational Categories - Events, Gas, Off Road, International, Racing - comments closed
Adam Drake has made it look easy by heading up the times after 4 rounds of 5 minute organised practice at the 2006 Neo Invitational event in Newport, Shropshire (no pics from the event yet). The American Team Losi racer, who is competing in both the buggy and truggy classes, is class of the field so far with a 14 second advantage over 2nd place in the buggy class and a 13 second advantage over 2nd place in the truggy class. Of course this is only practice and some racers may be sandbagging or not have found the best setup yet but still impressive none the less and the way that ‘The Drake’ has been winning races lately it could just be that he genuinely is that much quicker.
Interesting to note is that Adams truggy time is fast enough to get 2nd position in the buggy class. Also worth noting is that David Crompton, driving the Team Magic M1B, is going pretty well on the cars debut, ending the day in 23rd position.

Cody King wins 2006 Toys for Tots race Categories - Events, Team Orion, Gas, Off Road, National, Racing - comments closed
Team Orion team driver Cody King has won the 2006 Toys for Tots race at Hobby Town Raceway in Palm Desert. Qualifying 3rd after some problems on his fastest run, Cody managed to get ahead of Jeremy Kortz at the very start and then he proceeded to chase down Jared Tebo but was handed the lead after Tebo went out, which gave Cody the lead and in turn the win.
After looking at the heat sheet, I was surprised to find that not only had Jeremy beat me out, but Jared Tebo managed to sneak in front of me by only half a second. That would put me 3rd on the grid the main. I wasn’t too worried about it, because I had the fastest laps, and I knew I could win the main.
