2008 Winternats - het kwalificeren van de Woensdag Categories - Events, Gas, On Road, International, Racing - comments closed 
Het lopen van de woensdag bij de 2008 Ingezetenen van de Winter in Florida bleek een was uit met de regen die onderaan al ochtend komt, uiteindelijk tegenhoudend rond 12 am. Met het spoor dat begint te drogen, gingen rond 2pm Jim Rice op spoor het met zijn super drogende machine (zie hieronder beeld) drogen en bespoten toen suikerwater op het spoor. Racers werden gegeven vrije praktijk tot 4pm of zo en toen gingen de organisatoren met het programma, om te beginnen met ronde 2 van de klasse van Meesters verder. Ik ben zekere geen 100%, maar ik geloof dat niet alle 1/8ste schaalhitte van ronde 2 is voltooid en de organisatoren hopen om deze ronde te beëindigen evenals 3 meer rondes op Donderdag, met de club binnen te brengen gegeven toestemming om onder vloedlichten te lopen. De 1/10ste 200mm klasse slaagde erin om hun 2de ronde te voltooien en het was Paolo Morganti die zich tot de bovenkant van het pak met een snelle 2de ronde bewogen heeft die zich in werking om wordt gesteld om voor Paul LeMieux te bewegen die aan tweede daalt, terwijl DJ Apolaro (hierboven) in nu derde zit. 2008 Winternats - het kwalificeren van de Dinsdag Categories - Events, Gas, On Road, International, Racing - comments closed 
Is de eerste dag van de dinsdag van het kwalificeren bij deze jaren Florida Winternats over en voor de dagen tweede looppas, beslisten de regengoden een bezoek aan het spoor te betalen en dit veroorzaakte dat de ronde worden afgedankt. Alvorens de regen aankwam, was rennen heet op het spoor met Mike Swauger die het tempo in 1/8ste schaal met zijn JP aangedreven Mugen enkel voor onlangs ondertekende Motonica racer Josh Cyrul in tweede bepaalt, terwijl de 3de vlek 's nachts tot Aaron Buran behoorde. In de 1/10ste 200mm klasse was het de bestuurder Paul LeMieux van de Röntgenstraal NT1 die het tempo bepaalde, omhoog beëindigend slechts 1 tweede op vorige jarenwinnaar Paolo Morganti in tweede, die het teampartner DJ Apolaro van het Serpent enkel achter hem in derde had, terwijl uit het rond maken van hoogste 4 Kyosho bestuurder Chris Tosolini was. De woensdag zal omhoog heel wat veranderingen de voorzijde aangezien de voorwaarden verbeteren en alle hoogste bestuurders erin slagen om een kans te krijgen om een goede looppas aan te brengen zien, zullen wij u bijgewerkt houden. 2008 Winternats - Monday practice Categories - Events, Gas, On Road, International, Racing - comments closed 
We are currently running about half a day late with our reports from the Winternats due to the time difference, with Tuesday’s qualifying now underway here is the practice report from Monday. Again the weather was very nice, at least for us Europeans, and in the 1/8th scale it seems that Kyosho racer Chris Tosolini is setting the pace with young Vincent Jackson also very quick as is Italian veteran Marco Vanni. In the 1/10th class there is more people battling at the front with the top qualifying spot looking to be between Jilles Groskamp, Ralph Burch, Mark Green and last years winner Paolo Morganti. This was the final day for the drivers to perfect their setup and will now head into qualifying with 2 rounds of heats for everyone on Tuesday. We hope to continue to bring you more pictures from the track, and a brief report, tomorrow. Thanks to The Border for sending us the information.

2008 Winternats - Sunday practice Categories - Events, Gas, On Road, International, Racing - comments closed 
This years annual Winternats held at the Ft Myers track in Florida, is currently underway with a lot of the racers arriving on Sunday before the week of the event to get some practice in on this extremely tight and unforgiving track. Our site sponsors The Border are present with Michel Nijman racing and supporting Jilles Groskamp, and with the time left over will be sending us some photos and updates from the track. Here are the pictures from Sunday’s practice day which saw nice weather with temperatures around 26 degrees Celcius, perfect conditions for racing. As you can see from the photos, a lot of the Europeans are already at the track including multiple winner Michael Salven, who is contesting 2 classes, the Baldes brothers Jorg and Uwe and top Austrians Gerhard Kandelhart and Daniel Tomaschko. Also present racing for the first time with Motonica is new signing Josh Cyrul and new team mate Ron Atomic, who has also just been announced as a KO Propo racer. We hope to bring some more pictures and reports during the week as we get them.

Matsuzaki wins Yatabe International GP Categories - Electric, Off Road, International, Racing - comments closed
Last weekend saw the Yatabe Arena International off road GP take place at the famous indoor off road track in Japan. The event was attended by all the top Japanese racers and also present was former World Champion Ryan Cavalieri who was taking part in both the truck and the 2wd and 4wd classes. Racing saw the Reedy style format being used and even though Cavalieri dominated the 2wd class with 3 wins from 4, he had one sightly off result in the 4wd class which meant he finished in 2nd behind eventual winner, 2wd World Champion, Hayatu Matsuzaki, with Masami Hirosaka claiming 3rd. Cavalieri took the win the truck class.

Michael Salven to use Merlin Fuel Categories - Merlin, On Road, International, Racing, Drivers - comments closed 
Merlin Fuel have announced that German racer, and Serpent chief designer, Michael Salven will contest this season using their products. Michael has been 4 time European Champion, 2 time World Champion and has won lots of National titles in both 1:10th and 1:8th scale, which makes him one of the most experienced drivers around. Together with the Merlin R+D Department, he will be giving his input to help improve the Spanish company’s range of products.

2008 Latin Cup - Announcement Categories - Events, Gas, On Road, International, Racing - comments closed 
We received a mail announcing the upcoming 2008 Latin Cup that takes place in Puerto Rico on July 18th - 20th. Held at the most complete Sport Complex in the north area, the Barceloneta R/C Speedway, the track is located 45 minutes from the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and on your way to the track you will find beautiful hotels, restaurants and an excellent view of our beaches and sunsets. Open to 1/8th, 1/10th Sedan and 1/10th Outlaw classes, racers are expected from the United States, Dominican Republic and other countries in Central and South America.

Joern Neumann wins Kyosho Indoor Categories - Serpent, Gas, Off Road, International, Racing - comments closed 
Serpent have a report from their team driver Joern Neumann who was in action last weekend at the Kyosho International Indoor in Ostrava in the Czech Republic. The event was held in a large ice hockey arena with the surface made up of carpet and a kind of grass, which made tire choice very difficult. Following some tire tests, Joern found the correct balance and managed to win 3 of the 4 qualifiers to take the event TQ. Once through the semis, in which he drove most of the final in 2wd after a broken drive shaft, he was able to pull out a clear lead in the main final, winning by 2 laps from Kyosho driver Daniel Reckward in 2nd and Gerhardt Frank in 3rd.
