Mark Gilliland wins BRCA 200mm Rd5 Categories - Gas, On Road, National, Racing - add a comment
The 5th round of the BRCA 1/10th scale 200mm Nationals were run at Wrexham last weekend and rainy weather greeted the lower than normal number of competitors who attended. On Saturday it rained in the morning and didn’t dry until around midday, leaving the racers with half a day of practice to fine tune their cars for Sunday’s racing. On race day, the first two rounds of qualifying were wet and so it was only the last two dry rounds which would count. Team Xray driver Mark Gilliland was TQ in every round and so claimed the overall top spot from Mark Green, Stephen Brown and Kyle Branson. For the finalists, all chances of a dry final were dashed when it started raining 10 minutes before the start, leaving all racers scrambling to put wet tyres on their cars. The start of the 30 minute race saw Kyle Branson jump to the front after 4 laps followed by Steve Brown, the order remaining static until the 23rd minute when Branson’s wheel came off and took him out of the lead. With the tyre back on he struggled on a drying track and this left Gilliland to pick up the pieces and take the win by 3 laps from Mark Green, with his Serpent team mate Kyle Branson holding onto 3rd.

The latest qualification round for the German Nationals were held last weekend in Oberhausen and it was Team Corally driver Marc Fischer that TQ’d and won the modified class with his Corally RDX Phi. Setting the fastest lap of the weekend along the way, Fisher won ahead of Federico Veronesi in 2nd and Yannic Prümper in 3rd. In the stock class another Team Corally driver Domenik Reschke took the win followed by team mate Patrick Pasch in 2nd while Thomas Musial took 3rd.

Thomae & Roufosse win Belgian Nats Rd4 Categories - Electric, On Road, National, Racing - add a comment
Run at the very nice and technical MCCK track in Luxembourg, the 4th round of the Belgian electric touring car Nationals attracted 26 entrants. The race in the EFRA class was a one man show, with Benoit Thomaes proving to be too strong for everyone with his Xray T2008. He controlled the entire event, taking TQ and winning all the finals from Demsey Jacob in 2nd while in 3rd spot it was Patrick Jespers. The Super stock class was more exciting, with Stephane Roufosse taking the pole. In all the finals Stephane was the winner but in the 2nd leg he had a close battle with Urbain Swijsen who just crossed the line in 2nd, while Renaud Gijsenbergh rounded out the podium in 3rd.

We received a report from last weekends 4th round of the Danish DRCMU Off-Road championship held in Tinglev. In the Stock class it was Martin Kristensen that was fastest, with Jesper Rasmussen close behind having made some mistakes in the first round of qualifying and a retirement in second, and that put Martin in Pole Position with winning the first and second round of qualifying. Jesper showed in the third round that he was ready for some action in the finals putting in the fastest time of day, 0,20 second faster than Martin. Again it was Sebastian Sorensen with his Tamiya in third spot.

Recio wins Campeonato Clausura Rd1 Categories - Gas, On Road, National, Racing - add a comment
The first round of the 1/8th scale Campeonato Clausura took place at ‘Hernan Matticoli’ track in Buenos Aires, Argentina last weekend. Kyosho racer Sebastián Recio was the winner followed by Marcos Corbani and Gabriel Ianaca, the latter two both driving Mugen. The first part of the race saw a close battle between Recio and Juan Pablo Golobic, but Juan had a problem with his car and had to retire, leaving Sebastián to win by 7 laps. The 1/8th scale class is currently experience good growth thanks to the construction of the ‘Hernan Matticoli’ track and later this year, in November, it will play host to the South American Championships.
Chris Doughty wins Eden Park National Categories - Atomic Carbon, Electric, Off Road, National, Racing - add a comment
Chris Doughty, driving the LRP powered Atomized B44, took Atomic-Carbon’s maiden BRCA National win at Eden Park Raceway near London last weekend. The finals were eventful for Chris, in Leg 1 both front tyres became detached from both wheels, but Chris managed to hold off the pack to take a 2nd place, in Leg 2 Chris brushed a track marker on the warm up lap which damaged a front wishbone, thanks to quick work by the Atomic-Carbon team, the cells from his car were transferred to Andy Griffths Atomized B44 which had just come off the track from the previous final. Even with the worn tyres and yellow wheels Chris soon adapted to the differently setup car and managed a 5th place. In the 3rd leg Chris managed to get up to 1st place, with many cars retiring Chris played it safe and didn’t try to clear the big double jumps and came home to take the win. Brown wins Aldershot BRCA Rubber Nats Categories - Gas, On Road, National, Racing - add a comment
We received a report from the latest BRCA Rubber 200mm National that was held in Aldershot last weekend. With Steve Lander winning the first two rounds at Halifax and Cotswold’s and setting two track records this year in the process, the results show he is currently on good form. This was going to be a challenge for Stephen Brown to compete with his team mate and come away with the win, but it was a challenge Steve Brown showed he was up to.
