Smokem Racing LCG touring car chassis

Smokem Racing LCG touring car chassis

Smokem Racing has introduced its range of LCG low centre of gravity chassis for three of the most popular electric tourers on the market as are the Tamiya TRF418, Xray T4’14, Yokomo BD7 2014 and BD7. Made from premium 7075-T6 aluminium for a maximum in durability, Smokem’s LCG chassis feature strategically located cutouts for improved flex characteristics and reduced weight compared to other alloy chassis on the market. At 2mm thick and weighing approximately 25-30g more than the IIX-series of chassis, the LCG chassis will substantially lower the centre of gravity of the tourer and they are ideal for higher traction carpet and asphalt surfaces where traction rolling is a problem. Using the LCG chassis in these conditions will make the car more stable, easier to drive and less “edgy”. The extra flex created by the strategically placed cutouts means that the LCG chassis will also work well on medium traction conditions and with a wider setup window.

Avid carbon fibre touring car option parts

Avid carbon fibre touring car option parts

Avid have a range of optional carbon fibre parts for the Xray T4, Team Associated TC6.2 and the Yokomo BD7 available. The line-up includes 2.0mm carbon chassis, 2.0mm and 1.5mm top decks, as well as 2.0mm shock towers with all parts being direct replacements for the kit items. The chassis allow to lower the centre of gravity and the roll centres more than stock and they are specially cut to ensure equal twisting resistance side to side. Also the chassis shape is smoothed to keep droop screw platforms from digging into the track during hard cornering. Different thickness top decks help to fine-tune the chassis stiffness to adapt the cars for both carpet and asphalt racing. The shock tower are available separately for the front and rear and as combo sets including both the front and rear shock stay.

Asian On Road Championships Rd4 – Report

Asian On Road Championships Rd4 – Report

Last weekend the 4th round of the Asian On Road Championships was held at the PYC Raceway in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is well know for being a hot bed of on-road racing and this weekend a great turnout joined for the AOC’s first visit to this place. The PYC Raceway is a beautiful facility tucked away between all the high rise buildings just outside of Hong Kong. The format for the weekend was controlled practice on Friday, qualifiers Saturday and Sunday morning and triple finals for all mains on Sunday. Unfortunately on Friday, mother nature had plans to wash out the Friday practice day as the drivers encountered heavy rains throughout the day. This made the organisers make some changes to the program on Saturday to give the racers some practice in the morning and then go into the qualifiers. PYC raceway has the capability to run at night and knowing they needed to get as many qualifiers in on Saturday as they could, the qualifiers were run until about 8.30pm getting 4 rounds in.
