LeeSpeed 84 pitch spur gears & pinions

Leespeed 84 pitch spur gears & pinions

LeeSpeed Racing Design have introduced a new generation of 84 pitch spur gears and titanium pinions, available for any EP touring cars. The claimed benefit of 84 pitch is that it is quiet, improves acceleration timing and braking consistency due to more engagement of teeth, which translates to better and faster lap times. For the very same reason, it also will provide constant feedback to drivers throttle response due to a more refined gear ratio. They are available in a range of 118T up to 157T for spur gear and 30T up to 60T for titanium pinion while suitable for stock to modified, non-turbo to turbo.

Mark Green takes Rd2 of BRCA 1/8th Nats

Mark Green takes Rd2 of BRCA 1/8th Nats

The start of the 2013 racing season began with round 2 at Cotswolds 2 weeks ago. You must think there must be a typo error but we actually did start with round 2 since the scheduled first round at Wombwell had to be cancelled due to the snowy weather that hit the country in March. The entry for this round was lower than expected but still had a very competitive feeling which made for some close racing at all levels. Saturday was practice day and surprisingly the track was dry which enabled drivers to run their new engines in and also run their new cars for the first time. The lap times upfront are around the low 15 second bracket and if you can break consistently below this mark, then that is the golden ticket to having a good shot at TQ. The man to beat was Kyle Branson who was setting lap times consistently in the 14.7 second bracket and was clearly the class of the field with Mark Green being the next best. The remaining drivers of Wood, North, The Hastings duo, Dransfield, Thurston, Carr and Frost where in close pursuit.

Alexander Hagberg reports on Xray Challenge Greece

Alexander Hagberg reports on Xray Challenge Greece

The Xray Challenge Greece was held last weekend at the FRT track outside of Athens and this report is by Alexander Hagberg. ‘The track is huge by its size, comparable to the famous Lostallo track in Switzerland. It has been the host of numerous EFRA European Championship events in the past, so the quality of the track is very good. This time, the race featured the 1/10 GP and 1/10 EP Modified classes. A total entry count of around 50 had joined the event which was held over one day. The weather was sunny and reaching well over 20 degrees C, which meant perfect racing conditions.

Tamiya SG takes lead of RaceWorks Elite series

RaceworksEliteRd3

Round 3 of the inaugural season of the RaceWorks Elite Racing Series was held on 21 April 2013 at RaceWorks’ onroad circuit in Singapore. Fashioned after F1, the series features 5 ‘manufacturer’ teams of 2 drivers each competing for the overall drivers’ and team championship in the 7-race season. With rain disrupting the race, the overall results were based on the only qualifying run that was completed. TITC 2013 champion, Nicholas Lee (Team Tamiya SG) finished first, while teammate Alvin Koh took third spot. Team HB/HPI’s Allister Lim was second for his first podium finish of the season. After finishing on the podium in all 3 rounds so far, Alvin Koh leads the drivers’ standings ahead of PY Tang (Team Xray Singapore). The double podium finish of Team Tamiya SG’s drivers in Round 3 would see the team leap-frog Team Xray Singapore to take over the lead in the team standings. The teams look forward to “locking horns” again when the series resumes on 5 May for Round 4 of the season.

Reflex Racing T4 spring set & fan mount

Reflex Racing T4 spring set & fan mount

Reflex Racing have released a number of new items for the Xray T4, first of which is their carpet linear spring set. This set is comprised of springs that are more linear in nature than their asphalt spring set, yet still posses very nice road compliance and feel. Oversized in diameter by 0.5mm it allows for more consistent handling on carpet tracks and yield more steering and corner speed. The set includes 4 pairs of springs, Orange (16.7lb), Pink (15.1lb), Blue (14.8lb) and Black (13.5lb). Next up are these carbon fibre wing holders, which are a great way to secure your TC’s wing much more securely. They are especially effective with light weight bodies where the wings are a bit flimsy. Lastly there is this all new T4 universal fan mount. The fan mount installs on the chassis hole behind or in front of the motor and works with most 25, 30, 35 and 40mm fans and is designed to be held in place by only one screw on the chassis and one screw on the mount.
