This weekend was the third and final round of the inaugural oOple Off-Road Open Series. Having already visited Stotfold and RHR, Sunny Southport was the host of the final round. The 4WD championship was already decided with Tom Cockerill taking wins in the opening 2 rounds, but 2WD was a three-way battle between Schumacher’s Greg Williams, Tom Cockerill and RHR boss James Heliwell. As usual, Saturday morning would see open practice, allowing everyone all the track time they could wish for to get their cars dialled in to the high grip Southport track. The track was excellently prepared by the Southport crew, and the layout was fast and challenging, which would make for some good racing come the finals.

Tresrey 210 series alloy suspension parts

Tresrey 210 series alloy suspension parts

Japanese option parts company Tresrey introduce new aluminium option parts for Team Durango’s 210 series 2WD off-road vehicles in the form of C-hubs and rear suspension mounts. Starting with the C-hubs, the parts are CNC-machined and do away with the need to use the original caster inserts as they sport a fixed 0 degree angle. This makes for more a more accurately fitting part and makes for less maintenance work. The parts fit on all 210 series buggies and trucks. Also new are aluminium RF and RR front and rear suspension mounts for the rear end of the DEX210 chassis. The standard RF part has a 0 degree kick-up setting while the RR block is of a new low roll centre design with 3 degree toe-in. Both parts combined give 2 degree of kick-up for a lowered roll centre. The suspension block replace the standard plastic parts for added rigidity and durability. All parts come red anodized in ‘Tresrey red’ and are available from late July.

Chris Jarosz wins 2WD Mod at the Nor-Star electric champs

Delta RC in Antioch, CA played host to the 1st Annual Nor-Star electric champs. Northern California’s best 1/10 electric drivers braved the triple-digit temperatures to see who would stand on the top step of the podium. Chris Jarosz was on hand to represent Team Associated, LRP, and Reedy. The racing, taking place on a sugar-prepped track, consisted of three rounds of qualifying along with a single seven-minute main event on Saturday. Jarosz set the time to beat early on in the 2WD Modified class, with his AKA-treaded Factory Team B4.2 topping the sheets after the first round of qualifying. This time held up throughout the scorching day in this most popular class on the weekend. As the sun was setting, the tone for the 2WD Modified main sounded with Jarosz taking a lights to checker victory over the 10-buggy field.
