Coming from Team Associated is the Factory Team turnbuckle wrench. It is designed for the use with 1/10th scale 3.2mm and 1/8th scale 5.5mm turnbuckles and its design allows for a long reach for tight areas while providing extra leverage. The tool is made of hard-anodised steel for wear and it is available now.

Power HD EP-XYT single bracket low-profile servo

Power HD have introduced their new EP-XYT single bracket low-profile servo. Coming with a single mounting lug the touring car specific servo makes for a cleaner electronics layout as it does away with the need to run standard servo mounts as three different inner mounting adapters allow to directly attach the servo to the chassis. The adapters are available for the Xray T4, Tamiya TRF419X and the Yokomo BD7. The high-voltage compatible servo offers up to 12kg-cm of torque at a speed of down to 0.07s and it features dual ball bearings, a coreless motor and a mixed titanium and aluminium geartrain.

Ron Ton, RC Industry pioneer, has passed away

Ron Ton passed away

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of one of the RC industry’s true pioneers, Ron Ton. Co-founder of Serpent as well as a competitive racer in his day, the Dutchman invented a whole host of innovative products including the Centax clutch and the 2-speed gearbox, just to name a few, and it is a testament to his engineering ability that both of these inventions are still are in use today, some 3 decades later. Red RC would like to express our condolences to the Ton family.

Mibosport Cup Winter Series – Announcement

The 2016/17 season of the popular Mibosport Cup Winter Series will kick off on the weekend of the 29th of October in Hrotovice, host of the opening round of the 2016/17 ETS. Attracting almost 500 drivers in total including the likes of Ronald Völker, Marc Rheinard, Viljami Kutvonen, Elliott Harper, Michal Orlowski, Christopher Krapp, Peter Pinisch and Hupo Hönigl, last year’s series was great success. This year the series is run in the six classes of Touring Car Modified, Stock LRP, Formula, 1/12th scale as well as 2WD and 4WD Buggy. The Touring Modified class will again roll on Volante tyres while the off-road categories will utilise Schumacher rubber. The on-road races will be run on the proven black ETS carpet while the off-road track is laid out with the same carpet as used at the EOS. The big news for the coming season is the presence of EFRA referee Markus Winkler at every race and more information about the series can be found here.

Spashett & Payne win at AMC/CARS GP

The fourth and final round of the Summer Shootout Series took place in Chesterfield, UK last weekend. The event was run as a 2-day GP with practice and initial qualifying on Saturday, followed by further qualifying and finals on Sunday. Following the recent change to the BRCA National classes, the Shootout Series offers the same classes for LMP12 cars with 13.5 blinky as the Stock class and 6.5 blinky as the revised Modified category. The switch to 6.5 blinky in place of Open Modified appears to have bolstered entries for all events, with nearly 3-times more competitors signing up to race this class than when it was run as open motor and speedo previously.

Phil Sleigh teams up with Schumacher

Schumacher have announced the addition of top UK driver, Phil Sleigh to their team. Phil is joining up with the team to race Schumacher 1/10th buggies and also LC Racing micro buggies. Phil will bring a depth of experience to the team being multiple BRCA Micro Champion and BRCA 1/10th buggy National winner. He will be competing at all 1/10th UK Nationals, Mid West Regionals and all Micro Nationals.

Cavalieri crowned ROAR Touring Modified champion

Ryan Cavalieri crowned ROAR Touring Modified champion

The 2016 ROAR Electric On-road Paved Nationals were held at Valkaria RC in Malabar, Floria over the weekend. Split in several electric on-road classes including Touring Modified and Stock as well as USGT 21.5 and World GT 13.5T it was Team Associated’s Rick Hohwart who TQed two of the four Touring Modified qualifiers to take the pole position for the triple A-mains. 2015 ROAR National Champion, Ryan Cavalieri came in second from Team Associated teammate Randy Caster. In the opening A-main, Hohwart, Cavalieri, and Caster would all have a great battle for the entire 6 minutes. As the checkered flag waived, it was Cavalieri crossing the finish line in 1st. In the second main, Hohwart and Cavalieri would have another epic battle, this time Hohwart would come out on top with Cavalieri a close second. With the Championship to be decided in the final A-main, Cavalieri paced Hohwart closely for the first couple minutes of the race. A small mistake from Hohwart open the door for Cavalieri to get by. Cavalieri then did what he does best and drove a flawless last half of the race to take home his second ROAR Modified Touring Car National Championship in a row. Rick Hohwart came in second from Keven and Randy, making it a 1-2-3-4 for the all-new Team Associated TC7.1 touring car that hit the light of the day just last week. Xray’s Paul Lemieux completed the top 5 result.

Abisset wins French IC track finale as Mathieu takes title

The final round of the 2016 French 1/8th On-road Championship was held at the Beaumont-Monteux track last weekend. The weather was perfect with warm temperatures and bright sunshine. Leading the championship going into the final round Arnaud Mathieu (Capricorn) would only need a fifth place finish to take the overall Elite class title. The qualifiers saw Christophe Louis (Mugen) taking the top spot in front of Leo Arnold (Xray), one of the title contenders, while Arnaud Mathieu rounded out the top 3.
