Volker again benefits from Coelho error to take Q2

sat_volker

Ronald Volker has made it two out of two at the Yokomo Euro Tourng Series in Austria as he again benefited from an error by Bruno Coelho to take Q2.  Having claimed yesterday’s opening qualifier ahead of the joint championship leader, two errors by Coelho allowed the Yokomo driver to open Day 2 with another TQ, this time ahead of the championship’s other joint leader Marc Rheinard.  With Coelho’s Xray ending up 5th fastest, a good drive from Rheinard’s Tamiya team-mate Akio Sobue left the former podium finisher to complete the Top 3 ahead of Alexander Hagberg.

Volker takes Q1 at ETS Austria

fri_ronald2

Ronald Volker has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Austria.  Having been second fastest in practice behind Bruno Coelho, the first of the four scheduled qualifiers would see that order reversed as Volker was able to benefit from a mistake by Coelho at the 2-minute mark.  Behind them Marc Rheinard would ensure the Top 3 would respresent the championship’s big three manufacturers as he took his Tamiya to third, the Top 3 covered by 0.584 of a second.

Using much of the backbone of the Mi5 the Mi6 features conventional moulded composite suspension arms and bearing pivot points to offer free wishbone movement with no slop and with an even lower centre of gravity to carry even more corner speed. Beside the updated wishbone design the Mi6 also features a redesigned motor position for a more centralised weight distribution, a twin point steering, optimised chassis shape, CNC steel outdrives for durability as well as a 3mm front shock tower for a low weight and a 4mm rear shock tower for durability along updated bulkhead covers with ball-raced anti-roll bars. The kit will become available by mid to end of April.

Serpent introduce revolutionary 4-X touring car

Serpent introduce revolutionary X4 touring car

During this weekend’s round 3 of the 2015/16 ETS in Wels, Austria, we were able to snap first images of Serpent’s revolutionary Project 4-X touring car prototype. The Serpent factory team of Wilck, Fischer and Borowski are running the car that was created with the input of newly appointed touring car designer David Ehrbar with the vehicle featuring a revolutionary decoupled pull-rod suspension system that uses two separate shocks to take care of the downtravel and the roll respectively. Designed to work without a top deck, the layout also features a very low centre of gravity and an inverted steering system – with the bellcranks facing towards the rear of the car, as seen on many 1/10th 2WD buggies – which allows for a more consistent Ackermann angle throughout the whole travel. Also completely new, the suspension arms and hubs use a pivot ball system and are completely identical for both front and rear end.
