Cody King wins at Extreme RPM Series Rd1

The Extreme RPM Series kicked off at Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, California this past weekend and in the 1/8th Buggy Expert class Kyosho’s Cody King would make a clean sweep by TQing and later winning the race some three laps in front of Anthony Westergaard (Tekno). Shaun Kirkman (Tekno) ended the 35 minute A-main another lap down.

Triton L3 .21 off-road engine – Coming soon

U.S. company Triton have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming L3 .21 off-road engine. No details on the specifications are available yet but given the name and judging from the slightly simpler cooling head design compared to the company’s L4 Pro Spec and L5 Pro Spec engines the L3 could be a club level engine with a lower price tag than the Pro Spec variants.

Team Titan Blitz 1/8th on-road wing set

Team Titan have introduced the new Blitz 1/8th on-road wing set. Designed for the use with Blitz’ own line of bodies but also suitable for other brands, the set contains two differently sized add-on gurney wings as well as lightweight plastic mounting hardware. Pre-shaped slotted holes allow the height adjustment of the wings in order to fine-tune the aerodynamic drag and downforce. Both the wings and the hardware are also available separately.

Adam Drake sweeps Tico-Tico GP

This past weekend the Punta Del Este race was held at Tico-Tico Raceway in Uruguay. The event played host to drivers from Uruguay, Argentina, as well as Adam Drake from the USA. The qualifying on Saturday consisted of three 12 minute rounds, using the best two out of three qualifiers. Adam Drake was the top qualifier in Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truck with the finals being on Sunday. The track crew did a great job to get the track in shape after a lot of rain on Saturday night and Sunday morning and Adam was able to conserve his qualifying performances to grab the win in both the 60 minute Nitro Buggy and 45 minute Nitro Truck final to become crowned the double Tico-Tico GP champion.

Team Associated RC8B3 carbon fibre shock towers

Team Associated have introduced carbon fibre shock towers for the RC8B3 series of nitro and electric off-road buggies. Cut from lightweight yet durable carbon material the front and rear shock tower are 10 gram lighter compared to the stock parts, scrubbing a total of 20 gram when combined.

Thilo Tödtmann wins Xray Nitro Challenge Greece

The same day as round four of the Greek Xray Winter Series the Fanatix Racing Track held the Xray Nitro Challenge Greece. Right from the start Xray driver Dimitriou made his intentions clear as he won all qualifiers to take a dominant overall TQ. Only German guest driver Thilo Tödtmann (Capricorn) was able to come close, allowing him to line up in second.

LMR YZ-4 central LiPo mount set

Coming from LMR, the brand of Yokomo Factory driver and UK front runner Lee Martin, is a 2-piece central LiPo mount for the Yokomo YZ-4 1/10th 4WD buggy. Cut from carbon fibre the mount makes for a centralised battery position which creates a more nimble handling while allowing for higher corner speeds at the same time. The mount, as used by the Factory team, becomes available very soon.

Manuel Carlos wins at Portuguese on-road opener

Manuel Carlos wins at Portuguese on-road opener

The opening round of the 2016 Portuguese National On-road Championship was held at the Armaia track in windy and rainy conditions. In the 1/10th 200mm class the TQ went to Pedro Grandao but in the shortened 20 minute main final it was Manuel Carlos who came out successful despite a brake failure due to a linkage screw coming off. The podium result was completed by Tomás Andrade in third.
